Fun project we wrapped up this week!

Our client Jonathan has been working hard to get his property ready for a yearly prescribed burn schedule.

Unfortunately a grove of heavy privet, chinaberry, and vines were choking out the mature trees he wanted to keep. Burning in those conditions would’ve risked losing the quality timber.

Jonathan used a hack-and-squirt treatment and successfully killed the privet and chinaberry. Once the dead were in piles they were still far too large and dense to burn safely.

That’s where we came in — everything was mulched down to ground level, no risk of fire traveling upward. The area is now ready for a controlled burn in the future.

Jonathan’s goal is to see this spot fill in with native grasses and become better habitat for wildlife. It’s a great example of reclaiming land that was nearly overtaken by invasives and turning it into something healthy again.
