🚜 Heavy Equipment Operator 🚜
(This is for our SMITH MOUNTAIN LAKE base location)
We are expanding & searching for a heavy equipment operator for full time (open to part time with a predictable schedule) employment.
Your services will be shared between Wind Vineyards at Smith Mountain Lake, Wind Farms Excavation & Clearing, & Amish Barns of Virginia. Pad prep, excavation, compaction, forestry mulching, clearing, etc. This job provides the most flexibility and variety of any job you can find.

If you relieve stress, work hard, and are skilled then we will reward you. Feel free to request a fair pay rate, but we fully expect you to be worth it!
Requirements & Preferences:
1) Honesty
-If you are not honest as the day is long, do NOT apply! We will not get along and it will end very poorly for you (references available)
2) Hard Working
-While this job is mostly heavy machinery, there WILL be some miscellaneous work and manual labor, especially if you want a full time position. If you have ever been described as “lazy,” this is not the job for you!
3) Class A CDL & willingness to use it
-We have 3 CDL drivers on our team but cannot offer top dollar if we have to deliver machinery for you to use & pick it up. We have also had employees in the past with a CDL but unwilling to use it—that does us little good.
4) Mechanical Knowledge
-At a minimum must know basic machine maintenance, anything further is a bonus
5) Experience
-we do not expect you to know every machine or be perfect on them but for this position we need someone ready to perform
6) Drug Free/Non-smoker
-Heavy machinery and drugs do not mix and we would strongly preferred a non-smoker
7) Clean & Orderly
-While they are heavy machines and playing dirt, we want someone who takes pride in them, cleans out their trash, sweeps out the floor, and cares for our assets
