Warranty Evaporator Coil Replacement – Completed Successfully by Alian & Brighter Home Services

We replaced the indoor evaporator coil (the part that cools the air inside your home) under warranty at no cost for the coil.

After installing the new coil, we:
*Tested the entire system for leaks – passed
*Fully vacuumed the system to remove all air and moisture – successful
*Recharged and fine-tuned the refrigerant

Final system readings (showing the AC is working properly):
*Low-side pressure: 132 psi
*High-side pressure: 301 psi
*Superheat: 20°
*Subcooling: 5°F

This system is now sealed, properly charged, and ready for normal use, as we get through some of the hottest days of the year! - for this Riverview FL homeowner!

Let’s look into this 2015 horizontal air handler install in Largo FL.

While yes you can run the primary overflow (aka the pipe that the “smoke” was going into) to the secondary pan (your last “saving grace” to avoid a flood!), this installation method causes humidity issues as Johan shows.

Yes, piping the primary overflow straight into the open secondary pan is code-acceptable for water protection in many cases, but it does create a path for attic air infiltration that contribute to humidity/efficiency issues this video highlights!

Using a float switch in the overflow port (or a fully independent overflow line) avoids that problem (and keeps you safe from flooding!) while still meeting Florida requirements.

Local inspectors and good installers in high-humidity areas often prefer the switch approach for exactly this reason.
