INFECTION ALERT: Three Florida counties declare states of emergency as 190 locally acquired dengue cases spread across the state.
Hillsborough County alone accounts for 170 of those cases, with the mosquito-borne illness now confirmed in six counties, according to the Florida Department of Health.
The emergency declarations allow officials to fast-track mosquito-control operations and pursue state or federal assistance as crews ramp up aerial and ground treatments in affected areas.
