(IEC) was originally organized in 1957. It is a nationally recognized trade association with over 3,000 members and 76 Chapters in the U.S. Its members represent an estimated 50,000+ electrical workers engaged in commercial, residential, low voltage and industrial electrical construction, with specialties such as: generator, new construction, renovations, highway lighting, upgrades, design build,
service, health care facilities, signs, schools, chuches, retail stores, service stations, restaurants, malls, office buildings, power plants, etc. Locally, Florida West Coast Chapter (FWCC) has been established since 1993. We have over 70 companies in membership along the West Coast of Florida. Geographically speaking, FWCC serves electrical contractors from Citrus to Sarasota Counties, and inland to Polk County. FWCC was established by electrical contractors who understood the need for a unified and cohesive voice in our industry. FWCC has become a viable vehicle for this to happen. In addition to providing opportunities to network with peers throughout the country, we are also involved in local, state and federal issues that directly affect your company. We have employed a lobbyist for protection and improvement of our trade at the state level. FWCC administers the area's only merit show apprenticeship training program to produce licensed residential, voice-data-video, and commercial/industrial electricians. FWCC strives to provide our members with the education and training necessary to keep up with the perpetual demands of growth and advancement within our industry. We offer continuing education, seminars and workshops on various topics ranging from safety training to company profitability for both small and large electrical contractors. IEC was founded with a vision, the vision of "Owning Our Industry." We are very proud that we have successfully achieved cohesion among Merit Shop Entrepreneurs and we have made tremendous strides to fufill our vision as we continue to serve the electrical contractors of Florida's West Coast.
