Day 24
5 am Concrete Slab Pour

I love working with concrete and structural crews because they are the early risers! Starting to pour a large, 2,500 sq.ft., slab early like 5 am ensures they can get the trucks delivered, poured and finished by around 3 pm.

Good GC’s always take care of their crews! Breakfast for this crew was an easy no brainer!!

Day 23 - Slab Prep
- For most of the day the crew finalized the slab preparation required for the inspection
- After passed compaction testing we spray the soil with a termite treatment then cover it with the 6 mil plastic for a moisture barrier.
- On top of the v***r barrier we install supports for the welded wire fabric which comes in different thicknesses of metal and square sized. This is basically then rebar to help with tension in the slab.
- At 2 pm we conducted our own QC walk through, corrected a couple items and then called for the inspection and passed with flying colors

Day 21 - Underground Plumbing Rough-in
- Entire underground rough-in completed in one day
- We fill up the pipes with water to show the inspector it holds over night
- Tomorrow we will have the inspection and slab materials delivered.

Day 20 - Finish Backfilling
- Fun fact: GC’s hate this necessary process because we spend this time backfilling so precisely then the plumbers and electricians (sometimes) have to dig most of it up for their rough-in. And then we have to backfill and density test again before we can start slab prep.
- Details matter and this is why it’s important to pick the right builder. We are them! 🔨🦾

Day 18
- In the morning from 8-11 the crew installed the inspection hole covers with plywood to prep for the afternoon pour
- From 12-3 they poured the stemwall completely full
- We will start backfilling soon. Stay tuned!
