As most of you know, we also own Picket Ridge Fencing, so I talk with other fence contractors almost every day.

I want to start by saying thank you to the contractors who have helped us out when we were in a pinch. That help matters more than you probably realize, and I won’t forget it.

I’ll also be honest. There have been several times we were turned away simply because we compete against each other. That’s unfortunate, and it’s not how I want to operate.

This is a tough trade. Long days, physical work, weather, and constant pressure. I’ve helped several contractors already and I’ll continue to do so any chance I get. Don’t ever hesitate to call me just because we’re competitors.

Our shop is in Syracuse. If you’re working nearby and forgot a part and we have it, call me and I’ll get it to you. If a tool breaks and you’re stuck, call me and I'll get it to you. If you’ve got questions about business, advertising, or installation, call me. I’ll help however I can.

🚨 Attention Michiana Contractors — BEWARE of a FENCE INSTALL SCAM 🚨

We’ve been hearing about a situation where someone using the name “Pinnacle Investments” (or something similar) contacts installers with a large vinyl ranch rail fence job request — e.g., ~1,000 ft — then once you send your bid they:

• Claim they’ll “pay the supplier” for materials up front
• Tell you to increase your quote to cover material
• Insist you wire funds or pay the supplier directly
• Then dispute the charge or the payment never clears after you pay

This pattern is very similar to known contractor fake payment / overpayment scams — where scammers send a fake payment notification or check, ask you to forward extra funds for materials or a third party, and then you end up out the money when the payment is reversed or never existed. 

👉 In legitimate contracting work, you should never be asked to pay a third party on behalf of a client before you verify real funds are in your business account.

Red flags to watch for:
• Client unwilling to meet in person
• Requests to pay ‘suppliers’ before materials are ordered
• Payment screenshots instead of actual cleared deposit
• No verifiable business profile or references
• Property address you’ve never confirmed with the homeowner
These are classic scam indicators. 

If someone tries this with your company, trust your instincts and do not send money, materials, or start work until payment is verified through your bank — not just an email or screenshot.
