This year is expected to bad for grubs. Grubs are the larvae of several types of beetles, mainly japanese beetles in our region. The beetles lay eggs in the turf, when they hatch (mid summer) they feed on the roots of the grass. Grubs are worse the year after a wet season which we certainly had last year. Preventative grub treatments arer done in July and early August. The pesticide is absorbed by the plant and the grub dies when it feeds on the grass roots. If you have beetles, it is a good sign grubs are soon to follow. Call or e mail to schedule grub control.
