It starts with a consultation. The homeowners had called to consult on increasing the size of their garage.

Per the homewonwes request, the 2nd floor window locations on the east side of the dwelling had to remain. This created a challenge since a typical A-Frame roof will not work under these circumstances.

Most Importantly is to design a layout that functionally works, then make it aesthetically flow with the rest of the house style, and also fit (most forgotten) in the surrounding neighborhood.

The home is located in a historic district of the town, which is rich in architecture. Greek Revival, Colonial, Second Empire, Queen Anne. This became my inspiration to come up with this simple, but elegant way to tie in the roof to the dwelling without eliminating the windows, which in turn added an extra bonus space (walk-out deck) to use in the future.
