Cantilevered shades are super awesome! The cost more, but they provide a space premium by only using two legs. This means they have to be built with super-beefy footers and 4k extruded aluminum so they are structurally sound. Excellent for pool areas, or where you don't have a lot of space.

Most patio cover quotes in the Valley land in the $5,000 to $75,000 range — but the spread is that wide for real reasons, and knowing them tells you whether a quote is fair or whether someone's cutting something you can't see.

Here's what actually moves the price: total square footage, the span between posts, attached versus freestanding, solid roof versus lattice, insulated panels versus standard, footing depth and size, and whether the structure needs custom engineering for the load. The number that should worry you is the one that's dramatically lower than everyone else's. That gap usually lives underground in the footings, or in the gauge of the material, or in a permit nobody pulled.
