A lot of homeowners are surprised when their home warranty company approves a water heater replacement, but there are still out-of-pocket costs.

In many cases, the home warranty company covers all or part of the water heater itself. However, they often do not cover everything required to bring the installation up to current code, additional materials, permit fees, disposal, or the labor warranty that the installing plumber must stand behind.

The plumber completing the work is usually an independent contractor, not an employee of the home warranty company. We don’t set the warranty company’s coverage limits, but we are responsible for providing quality workmanship, carrying insurance, maintaining licensing, and standing behind our work after the installation is complete.

Please remember that your plumber isn’t trying to take advantage of you—we’re simply working to provide a safe, code-compliant installation while supporting our families and small businesses.
