As our growing season is attempting to get under way, here is a little lesson from your friendly neighborhood W**dSlayer to always keep your eyes peeled when you are on the hunt for w**ds this summer - and for elk in the fall.
W**ds grow in the darndest places. Whether it's right out of the top of a rock like this mullein and diffuse knapw**d, making itself at home like Uncle Eddie like this Scotch thistle, or maybe it's growing right under your nose like this patch of Dalmatian toadflax was for 30+ years in the stomping/spraying/hunting grounds of a certain Wyoming W**d and Pest supervisor.
In all reality, we're thankful Rod is with us now, and thankful that we found this small patch out hunting last fall before it got a chance to spread this spring.
Bucking horses that reside here after traveling from fairground to fairground throughout the state/region or the w**d and pest spray crew coming from different parts of the county are both likely culprits for bringing the w**d seeds to this area in recent years - not 30+ or it would be widespread by now.
It really highlights the importance of knowing what your livestock are eating (feed w**d-free), cleaning equipment before moving to new locations (Play, Clean, Go), and last but not least the importance of keeping your eyes peeled for sneaky w**ds whenever and wherever your path leads you (EDRR - find them fast, take care of them faster).
W**ds are bad, mmkay?
Spread love, not w**ds.
