May River Elementary School, the future home of the Manatees, reached a major milestone as our team gathered to celebrate the topping-out of this new school.

Opening for the 2027–28 school year, the school will help Beaufort County School District accommodate continued growth while providing a secure and collaborative learning environment.

May River Elementary is also slated to be the first public facility in South Carolina constructed using Insulated Concrete Forms, setting a new standard for long-term performance.

It was a fantastic day to celebrate alongside Beaufort County School District, design partner Quackenbush Architects + Planners, and the incredible trade partners helping move this project forward. Thank you to everyone who contributed to this milestone.

Now it is heads down as we continue working toward the finish line.

TTC’s Johns Island Elementary School project has earned Charleston County School District’s 2025 “E” Award, a recognition rooted in a tradition that began during World War II to honor excellence in performance. Today, the award celebrates outstanding achievement in the construction of educational facilities across the District.

Delivered alongside Construction Dynamics, Inc., Quackenbush Architects + Planners, and Clancy+Wells, this school reflects what strong collaboration can accomplish. From early coordination through final turnover, the project team worked with a shared commitment to creating a lasting learning environment for the Johns Island community.

The project required extensive coordination with local and state agencies while safely managing the simultaneous construction of the school and surrounding traffic improvements. Through every phase, the team stayed focused on delivering a safe, high-quality facility for River Otter students.

This recognition belongs to the many hands and hearts behind the work, including Charleston County School District, our trade partners, and dedicated construction team. We are grateful to have played a role in building a special space in a special place.

Our Center for Welding & Automation Excellence project for Greenville Technical College provided the perfect backdrop for a spring career fair! Thompson Turner Construction, Thompson Construction Group Inc., and many of our outstanding project partners welcomed more than 150 students from across GTC campuses to explore opportunities in skilled trades education and careers in the Upstate.

The event gave students a sneak peek inside this advanced facility while connecting them with the professionals helping bring it to life. We are grateful to everyone who made time to invest in student engagement and share valuable insight into the future of skilled trades.

Designed by our partner Goodwyn Mills Cawood, this transformational facility will strengthen Greenville Technical College’s leadership in skilled trades education by preparing students for the future of advanced manufacturing. While welding remains the core focus, the facility is designed to support a broader range of in-demand skills, including non-destructive testing, robotic welding, and automation technologies that are increasingly essential across modern production environments.

We are proud to help support workforce development and the next generation of skilled professionals in the Upstate.
