When I think about the verdict in the Nolan Wells case, my heart is heavy. What I believe was a terrible injustice is a painful reminder that sometimes the truth does not receive the justice we expect in a courtroom.
But one thing I know for certain: God sees everything. He knows every truth, every lie, every hidden conversation, every action, and every intention of the heart. People may be able to deceive others, avoid accountability, or walk away believing they got away with something—but no lie can live forever.
When someone has been wronged, and especially when a precious life has been taken, that pain does not simply disappear because a verdict has been handed down. A family still has to live with the loss. Loved ones still have to wake up every day carrying an emptiness that can never truly be filled.
There may be courts here on Earth, but there is also a higher court. And in that court, there are no clever arguments, no manipulation, no hiding evidence, and no escaping the truth. God knows exactly what happened.
Every one of us will have our day of judgment.
So even when justice seems absent today, I continue to believe that truth will ultimately prevail. What is done in darkness will eventually come to light, and what mankind may fail to judge, God never overlooks.
Rest in peace, Nolan Wells. May the truth never be forgotten.
