ā€œMindā€™s Eyeā€

I recently posted about something called aphantasia on my personal page. The mindā€™s inability to conjur mental images of well, anything really. Itā€™s not something Iā€™ve ever thought about until recently, but after an interaction and visualization exercise with a friend, and then reading about it, I put two and two together and it makes sense. Note: I am a big fan of self diagnosis and a hypochondriac to boot so take this with a grain of salt butā€¦.As I laid in bed this morning trying to picture an apple or even more simple, a green squareā€¦.this is an example of what my brain ā€œseesā€. Thereā€™s no apple, no green square, no ability to pull into my brain a loved oneā€™s faces, no forest with towering trees, no ocean scape, etc. I can sense how those things feel and the emotion attached to them and even describe their attributes but there is no visual imagery, just a kaleidoscope of moving merging colors. Occassionally I can get millisecond flashes of those things or parts of them but never an intact full visualization.

So my questionā€¦.who can relate? Iā€™d love to hear from you.
