Cheney Brothers Inc. in Legacy Park at Tradition - “Bull and Cow” Public Art Sculpture.

There is some udderly amazing art that is about to make its way from Haverhill, Massachusetts to the City of Port St. Lucie, Florida! The sculptures will consist of one 8’ Bull and two 6.5’ Cows set to be grazing along SW Anthony F. Sansone Sr. Blvd. within Legacy Park at Tradition. The proposed sculptures are of a 3D, faceted style and made of Cor-Ten weathering steel with the bull featuring stainless steel horns. The Cor-ten Steel material features a rust-colored patina. This outer layer of the metal serves as protective shield that prevents further oxidation and can withstand exposure to the elements year-round with virtually no maintenance. We are looking forward to seeing these one-of-a-kind pieces installed on site by the end of this year.

The City of Port St. Lucie City Council unanimously approved the Cheney Brothers / CBI Food Service Warehouse Distribution Center at last night’s City Council meeting (January 24, 2022). The facility will be a 522,572 square foot building with a first phase of 367,427 square feet. The project is anticipated to cost $65 million dollars initially and will generate 275 jobs with an average salary of $65,000. HJA is proud to be part of the Cheney Brothers team which was lead by Development Director, Warren Newell. The project is located in the Legacy Park area of Southern Grove, just north of Becker Road and the Becker I-95 interchange.

Michael Houston, President of HJA Design Studio is proud to announce that Todd Troxell has been promoted to Vice President of the firm. Todd has been with HJA since its founding in 2010 and during that time has been instrumental in the firm’s growth and success. Todd is a graduate of the University of West Virginia with a BLA in Landscape Architecture and a minor in Fine Arts. Todd has been the principal designer and project manager on many of the companies high- visibility projects including the redevelopment of the Willoughby Golf Club clubhouse and pool, the Durbin mixed use community in St. John’s County near Jacksonville, the Townhomes of Hobe Sound in the Hobe Sound CRA and the recently completed Sovana senior apartment community in Stuart.

Under is new role Todd will also focus on client development, staff growth and construction administration.

We are pleased to announce that this Monday, October, 11th, 2021 is the grand opening of the newly renovated Sailfish Sands Golf Course and driving range, which features Toptracer technology.

The Sailfish Sands Golf Course clubhouse, which has 20 hitting bays and also features Toptracer technology, is still under construction, but expected to be completed by Spring of 2022.

Along with some of our team, Sanford Golf Design , n2 architecture + design , Bowman Consulting , and Martin County Parks and Recreation , we are delighted about this new addition to Martin County.

Ouanalao Resort will be located on St. Lucie County's South Hutchinson Island between Herman's Bay Beach to the south and Ocean Bay Beachside to the North. This oceanfront resort consists of twenty five (25) 3-story villas, twenty five (25) 1-story cottages, a 3-story clubhouse with a pool overlooking the Atlantic Ocean and a multi slip dock on the Indian River Lagoon. Guests will be able to experience both the beach and the lagoon with this activity-filled project.

One of our more recent projects, Ouanalao Resort (also know as Seaside Resort) in St. Lucie County's South Hutchinson Island, was unanimously approved last month by the County Commission. This project will feature several amenities, such as twenty-five 3-story villas, a 3-story clubhouse & pool, twenty-five 1-story cottages, access to the beach on the east side and access to a dock on the Indian River Lagoon on the west side. This is one of the few resorts in Saint Lucie County's South Hutchinson Island. We are looking forward to the construction of this project and the future economical impact this will have to St. Lucie County.

We are excited to announce our latest project, Okeechobee Trace, which was unanimously approved yesterday, May 13th, 2021, at the Okeechobee Board of County Commission meeting.

Okeechobee Trace is a 339 acre property located on the corner of State Road 70 and SW 48th Ave in Okeechobee, FL. A mix of 400 single family homes and 50-80 multi-family golf villas are proposed along with recreational amenities and a public 18 hole executive golf course and clubhouse. The property will be preserving over 65 acres of native upland and wetland habitat with nature trails throughout the preservation area. In addition, an 8 acre commercial parcel is proposed on the corner of State Road 70 and SW 48th Ave that will support this new community and the surrounding area.

Our team believes that this development is one of a kind in Okeechobee County and is a stepping stone to smart growth and new housing opportunities within the area.
