So this one was a doozy and mostly a warning about bad work. I’m gonna say “licensed electrician“ a lot because honestly their work showed that they’re that in title only; not even close in practice.
The customer had 2 of their Treo lights out. No big deal, those LED’s are a rare find because they have bulbs that can be changed. Unfortunately, they were installed by a “licensed electrician” that left no extra cord to pull them to the surface. By using the dry dock in the first photo, the pool can stay full and inside it stays dry. Bulbs changed, but in the process I discovered a lot more horribly unsafe work by this “licensed electrician”.
The 12v low voltage wiring was ran in the same conduit and boxes as all the other wires including the 240v wires feeding the entire pool panel. Also, in their effort to keep the job looking “neat” (just on the outside) they ran 1 conduit to the transformer and bent the heavy gauge steel plate that separates high and low voltage to slip the wires past it. Everywhere I looked there was something that is not only unsafe, but likely to cause a problem. Keep in mind, this was a “licensed electrical company” and inspected when complete by the township… This is the 2nd job like this, this year where a “licensed electrician” did horrible, unsafe, lazy work (and for a lot of money). The lesson here is talk to a lot of references before using a contractor and have someone who advocates for you and your family check over any work.
We don’t pass the buck and corrected it all. Most of the pics show previous horrendous work and the last couple show the correction. I know a customer may never open a panel I’ve worked in, but it does not affect the level of work I do. I try to treat every job like it’s my pool.
