Back in Medina for another project with a returning client! 👊

I previously hung and finished their kitchen and walls, blending everything into the existing texture, and now it’s time to tackle the office.

For this project, I’ll be hanging the new ceiling, getting everything taped and coated, and tying the new drywall into the existing wall. I’m also intentionally creating the butt joint in the middle of the window opening instead of ending the drywall at the corner of the window. Keeping seams away from the corners of openings helps reduce stress points and lowers the chance of cracking down the road.

Once everything is hung and finished, I’ll also be going around the existing walls and coating the dings and imperfections to get the entire office cleaned up and ready for the next stage.

Another one getting done the right way. 💪

A look back at one of my favorite transformations from a few years ago! 🔨

This started out as a barn/shed and was completely transformed into a fully finished apartment-style living space. It features a spiral staircase leading up to a loft with two closets, while downstairs has a full bathroom, utility room, living area, and kitchen with an L-shaped counter wrapping around the staircase.

Even with the original garage door still incorporated into the space, everything came together to make this a really unique setup.

I recently came back to complete three separate drywall patches after some AC lines needed to be serviced, and it gave me a chance to finally showcase the entire finished space. A few years later, everything from the original project is still holding up great.

Even better, this is now the third time this client has had me back for additional work. Repeat clients are one of the best compliments you can get in this trade. 💪

Back on a project I originally hung a few years ago, this time to take care of three separate drywall patches after the AC lines needed to be serviced and the walls had to be opened up.

I added blocking where needed, installed the patches, taped everything in, and built the repairs out with three coats of 20-minute quick set. Now they’re ready to be brought down to a nice smooth sand and blended back into the existing walls.

Always cool coming back to a space I worked on years ago and getting it cleaned back up again.

Finally back to wrap this one up! 👊

I originally started this project a few months ago, but the client left to tour around the world, so the job had to be put on hold until they returned. Now that they’re back, I was able to jump back in and get the final coat completed.

For this stage, I skimmed out the walls, applied the final coats to the corner bead while coating opposite corners, and hit all the screws one final time. Everything is now coated, tightened up, and prepped for the final sand.

Next step: sand it all down and get this project officially finished! 💪

Plaster repair across multiple rooms on this one. 🛠️

Over time, some of the existing plaster has started losing its integrity, with areas beginning to loosen along with stress cracks and splitting throughout the home.

The damaged and unstable sections will be cut out and replaced where needed, followed by plenty of mud work and rolls of FibaFuse reinforcement tape to help tie everything together and reinforce the existing plaster.

With older plaster, simply filling the cracks isn’t enough — the goal is to address the failing areas, reinforce what’s still solid, and create a strong, smooth surface that will hold up.

A lot of prep and repair work ahead on this one. 💪

Progress update on this monster of a garage! 🔥

Everything is now pre-filled, taped, and corner beaded and ready to start getting coated. With the vaulted ceilings, peaks, angles, loft, and all these windows, just getting to everything has been a project of its own.

To get it this far I’ve been working off a full-size scaffold, Baker scaffold, 6-foot ladder, and a 28-foot extension ladder — moving and setting everything up as I work my way around the building.

A lot of footage, a lot of angles, and a LOT of climbing, but it’s finally starting to come together. 💪

Next up: first coat and watching this place really start to transform.

PROGRESS UPDATE 🔨 Almost Ready for Tape!

This one definitely threw a few curveballs at me, but we’re getting there. 💪

Day one started with the walls because the lights still needed to come down before I could attack the ceilings. Then I had a handful of boards get wet, my drywall lift couldn’t reach the peak, and I had to improvise — using the lift to get the 5/8” drywall up onto the scaffold and hanging the rest from there myself.

And because that apparently wasn’t enough 😂, a pipe from nearby construction came down and smashed into my truck hood and windshield. Thankfully, the construction company stepped up and took care of it, but it definitely cost me some time.

Despite all of that, I’m down to just five pieces of 5/8” drywall at the peak, plus a few windows left to wrap and corner bead.

After that… it’s officially time to start taping. 🔥

Not every job goes exactly according to plan. You adapt, keep moving, and get it done.

Big one starting up! 💪

I’ll be hanging and finishing all the drywall on the walls and ceilings, including the high vaulted areas, loft, and wrapping the windows with drywall. There are a lot of angles and height on this one, so it’s definitely going to be a fun project to watch come together.

Thankfully, I had all the drywall delivered at once instead of making multiple trips and hauling this amount of board myself. 😂

This is the BEFORE — stay tuned because I’ll be documenting the process from hanging ➡️ taping ➡️ finishing ➡️ sanding.

Most people think the stomp brush creates the finish. In reality, the mud preparation is what makes or breaks the texture.

Rolling the mud in different directions helps distribute it evenly. Then I make one final pass in the opposite direction to flatten and level everything before texturing. That gives me a consistent surface so the stomp pattern stays uniform from one end of the ceiling to the other.

I always finish the perimeter first, then work into the field. It keeps the borders clean and makes blending much more controlled.

A few extra minutes of prep can save a lot of headaches later.
