Final coat going up! 💪

Going through with my trowel, filling in any remaining voids, low spots, and divots to bring everything onto one smooth, even plane. The goal is to eliminate any noticeable transitions between the new drywall and existing surfaces.

This is what makes a proper blend! Once everything is sanded and textured, you shouldn’t be able to tell where the repair begins or ends. No visible humps, dips, or uneven transitions on the ceilings or walls. Just one seamless finish, as if nothing was ever repaired! 🔥

A seamless drywall repair starts long before the mud goes on! 💪

When blending new drywall into an existing textured ceiling, I always scrape the old texture back a good 16–17 inches past the joint. Why? Because leaving that texture creates unnecessary buildup and harsh edges when applying mud.

By scraping it back, I can feather my coats out smoothly, making sanding much easier and preventing those ugly edges from showing through the new texture.

The goal is simple: Make the repair disappear into the existing ceiling so you can’t even tell where the old drywall ends and the new begins! 🔥

It’s all about the prep work and attention to detail!

Proper prep makes all the difference! 💪

Started this job by protecting the garage floor with plastic and setting up ZipWalls to create a containment barrier, helping keep dust and debris from spreading throughout the area.

From there, it’s on to patching, taping, coating, and texture matching the garage ceiling, along with repairing a small hole in the wall. Inside the home, I also protected the fireplace area with plastic before tackling a ceiling patch that needs to be taped, coated, and texture matched.

A quality finish starts long before the first coat of mud goes on! Taking the extra time to protect the surrounding areas makes a huge difference! 🔥

Another productive day! 💪 I’m about to demo and remove the old ceiling, soffit, and small ceiling area above the staircase. Then I’ll go pick up the drywall and come back to replace everything with fresh drywall. Making great progress and keeping things moving! 🔥

Coating the corners in this garage as we work toward a clean, smooth finish! The client wants a nice flat ceiling, so I’m making sure every corner and seam blends together for a professional look once it’s all sanded and ready for paint! 💪

Making some serious progress on this ceiling! 💪 Started Friday evening with three hours of demolition, and now everything is hung, taped, and first coated!

The joists ran in three different directions, so I had to adjust how I hung the drywall while adding extra framing and blocking throughout. Ended up with two long butt joints running across the room, but nothing a nice, wide, even float can’t hide! Once finished, you’ll never know they’re there! 🔥

A lot of extra work went into this ceiling, but it’s coming together beautifully!
