The re-erecting of stones in St. Anthony cemetery has begun.
The Church is covering the costs of getting the stones back in proper position.

The stones are pretty dirty. Getting them cleaned up is up to stone owners or their families.

I am including a business card with a phone number for a young man that can be hired to clean your stones at your own expense.

This is all done at your own convenience once a stone is back in place.

Have a Safe and Good Holiday weekend.

This letter from St. Michael’s can be found in the bulletin.

Please read the letter before forming any kind of decision or opinion 😉

We will begin work in September or so, if not before.
A window has been opened up for families to contact us if they wish to hire someone to repair their loved one’s stone at their own cost.

If they do hire out for the repair, they must provide the office with a certificate of liability insurance prior to doing ANY work in the cemetery.

I will update as info comes in, but this letter from the Church, we feel, has it covered.

Thank You for your patience in the matter.

Just checking in with a St. Anthony update…….
I have not received a response from the insurance company as of yet.
I plan on waiting til the end of this week and if I don’t hear anything, I will reach out to them.

It’s not easy, but I know we need patience with the insurance as well.

Our hearts are all about getting into the cemetery and getting your loved ones stones re-erected, we just have to allow the “paperwork” part to catch up.

I promise you, we are staying on it and still ask that when visiting your loved ones….. that you leave everything lie in the place it landed. This is so very important for many reasons.

Have a good week everyone and do your best to stay cool in this heat. 🙌

St. Anthony Cemetery

As of today, everything has been submitted to the insurance for the damage within St. Anthony Cemetery.

We will now await their response and will move forward from there.
One way or another we will work to get these stones fixed.

At this time we still ask that you refrain from doing anything in the cemetery, other than visiting your loved one’s grave.

Please DO NOT ATTEMPT to move or “fix” any of the stones that are toppled.

Insurance may want to visit the cemetery on their own and take their own photographs to determine coverage.

Entering the cemetery and attempting any kind of “fix” for a stone on your own will absolutely hinder our process and may eliminate the stone you think you properly fixed from actually being re-erected properly on behalf of the insurance.

Again….. the stones are extremely heavy and if not placed back together properly, they pose a risk of injury to others.

So PLEASE refrain from moving or fixing anything.

Please refrain from entering St. Anthony’s Cemetery in your vehicle and/or on foot (the section North of First St).

The tree service guys are about finished doing their work. One more day is all they need and they really need for people to keep out of their way.

The stones within the cemetery have all been photographed and we are assessing the damage to each stone. Each and every one of them.

We understand how disheartening it is to see a loved one’s grave stone in disarray, but we kindly ask that you do not attempt to move or reposition any of the stones.

Many of these stones weigh hundreds of pounds and are in need of heavy equipment to get them back in their rightful position.

We are looking out for your safety and working hard to remedy this situation.

Thank You,

St. Michael’s Cemetery Association
and Staff

Our heartfelt Prayers go out to the families affected by the storms yesterday evening.

We are currently assessing damage in our local Catholic Cemeteries and Hillcrest Cemetery.

Please be kind, patient and understanding that we are working hard at coming up with a plan to organize and find resolutions for cemetery structures that suffered damage.

Feel free to reach out to us or the Catholic office and leave a message. We will return your call as soon as possible.

Please, please, try to limit your calling to one phone call and leaving a message. Also, refrain from calling multiple phone numbers associated with these cemeteries. I promise we will call you back.

We are working diligently to assess and prioritize this situation.
