Another sash had a little bump, which turned out to be a pretty little number tag.

Basement Casement.
No more light lime green & chewed muntins.
The additional detail on the latches caught my eye; they're spectacular little pieces of hardware.
The exterior sash is work for a later date.

Not a book, but I should write one.

The curved window saga continues.

It's been a year, but the windows produced some problems, then the house did, work was slowed, delayed... but I'm proud of the owners for trudging through some terrible things (not related to my project)!

Have I mentioned my tears? 😭 Oh I had a lot of growing pains, learning to make large curved windows - curved in a way most windows aren't. (A lot of people have been confused when I said they're not arched, they're curved.) I actually tried to pass this work off, no luck, found an old sash-maker, he refused to make them because of ehat it would take. So, 4 of these are brand new Kenna Specials, but I'm not telling which.

Not all the glass is patched in yet; replacements were needed. That was another huge hurdle & delay for this job. AGW Artisan Glass Works is "wavy-ing" some curved panes for me.

The fun isn't over. Weighing in up to 30 pounds each, these still need to be installed, 30 feet up, with somewhat major framing/jamb work before that. Then curved trims.

I'll be on site soon enough.

And there's 6 more to do...

Nope. In spare time, personal woodworking.
This old tool needed a little fixing, huh?
My handy spokeshave. I love those tools.
I customized the handle to my grip.
Linseed oil paint mixture; should be visible in the garden.

This would never be an affordable repair for a client!

What a house, right?
Another small job - took longer than expected. Par for the course.

*The key here is that the windows already operated.* Parts needed a little cleaning, sanding, oiling. New chain here & there. These "quick fixes" do NOT work on windows where the sash & jambs are thickly painted, caulked, nailed, or otherwise fixed shut. It's a lot of labor, getting into a window. Sometimes homeowners don't know or understand that. These owners are great; they get it!

I like the crimped old coils. They were fine to reuse.

I had a hard time finding oval link sash chain about 3/4 yr ago. Anyone know if/where it's available?

And, arced stools. In the round tower room. But the sash are not curved.

Mmmm chewed muntins. Hangry animal. So I gave this sash new ones, plus a new profile on a rail. Matched, fitted, sanded, reglazed, primed. I'll actually be painting this on-site. In white. No lime green!

Just another one of my recent small jobs.

Received my glass sample package from Artisan Glass Works, Baltimore, MD Artisan Glass Works . I can better inform clients about glass options.

This glass *reflects* waviness but gives a mostly clear, undistorted view. There are 4 effects.

It also has more of the aqua tint I am always seeking. I do distinguish between glass color, its effect, & how well it matches what I work on.

Small project: Patching an old dryer vent hole on a porch.

It was already backed with plywood. I filled with plaster to match the drywall level, cut a rectangular patch complete with a v-groove, & voilà -- no more hole. Linseed oil primer

The homeowner will repaint at a later date.
