At Central San’s Solids Handling Facility in Martinez, CA, our team is upgrading equipment—like centrifuges and cake pumps—that has been running continuously for over four decades. Updating a facility that has been operating non-stop for that long is rarely as simple as reading the original blueprints. Over time, wires get re-routed, new equipment gets added, and legacy records don't always match field reality.

Before our Con J. Franke Electric crews could connect a single new wire, we performed a complete electrical investigation:

What actually controls the heavy machinery inside a 24/7 water treatment facility? Let’s talk Motor Control Centers! ⚡🔧

At Central San’s Solids Conditioning Building in Martinez, CA, giant pumps, centrifuges, and furnaces process wastewater solids around the clock. To keep all that heavy equipment running, Con J. Franke Electric is building the new electrical backbone for the facility—including six brand-new Motor Control Centers (MCCs).

Think of an MCC as the brain and command hub for industrial machinery. It directs power and controls the starting, stopping, and speed of giant electric motors.

Here’s the cool part: To protect two of these massive control hubs from harsh industrial weather, we’re installing them inside a custom, corrosion-resistant building! The other units are being carefully integrated into tight indoor spaces while the surrounding machinery stays fully powered.

It takes a lot of care and craftsmanship to fit state-of-the-art technology into a bustling, active facility!
