Have you ever wondered what keeps your drinking water safe from dirty water in your garden hose, sprinkler system or sewer lines? This is a picture of a backflow preventer we installed at a home in Stevensville today.
What it Does: Normally, water pressure pushes clean water from your city supply into your home. But if there is a sudden drop in pressure (like a water main break or fire hydrant use) it can create a suction effect. This is called "backflow". A backflow preventer acts as a heavy duty one-way valve that slams shut the moment water tries to flow backward, keeping contaminants out of your tap water.

💧 Before You Call a Plumber… Try This First

If your shower or faucet pressure seems low, sometimes it’s just mineral buildup. Buildup from hard water (very common in Montana) is often times the culprit.

Try cleaning your shower head or faucet aerator first.

What to do:
• Unscrew the shower head or faucet tip (aerator)
• Place it in a bowl of white vinegar
• Let it soak for 2–4 hours (overnight is best!)
• Scrub gently with an old toothbrush and soap
• Rinse and reinstall

You may be surprised how much better the flow gets right away.

⚠️ When it’s NOT just buildup:
• Low pressure throughout the whole house
• Sudden drop in water pressure
• Discolored water
• No improvement after cleaning fixtures

That can point to a deeper issue in the plumbing system that might need outside help.

It has been a busy week around the valley helping folks out with their plumbing 👍. Here’s a few things we got into:

• Put in a new electric water heater
• Serviced a Navien tankless system
• Cleaned up and corrected piping for a Rinnai water heater + whole house filter
• Ran a new roof vent for a tankless setup
• Installed a whole house filter system with spin-down + sediment/carbon filtration
•Whole house rough in of waste and vent, water piping, and gas piping
It’s been great meeting more of you as we settle into the area. We appreciate all the warm welcomes so far—it really means a lot.
