Windows do a lot more than let in the light. 🪟

They can completely change how a room feels—and even influence the character of your home's exterior.

Frame material, grille patterns, window style, hardware, glass, and even the shape and placement of a window all play a role. In fact, something as seemingly simple as changing the grille pattern can give a traditional Northern Virginia home an entirely different look.

And then there's what happens inside: more natural light, better views, ventilation, privacy where you need it, and a stronger connection to the outdoors.

If you're remodeling, windows deserve to be part of the design conversation—not an afterthought.

Take a look at some of the options and considerations that can help you choose the right windows for your home:

: The Washlet Toilet Seat

Once you've experienced a washlet, a regular toilet can feel a little... basic. 😉

Washlet seats are becoming an increasingly popular fixture in bathroom remodels, offering heated seats, adjustable water temperature and pressure, warm-air drying, self-cleaning functions, and even night lighting.

Beyond the comfort factor, they're also a great feature to consider when planning for long-term accessibility and aging in place.

One important detail: many washlet seats require electrical power, so if you're remodeling your bathroom and think you 𝙢𝙞𝙜𝙝𝙩 want one someday, talk with your remodeling team early. Planning for an outlet near the toilet during construction is much easier than adding one later.

It's a small bathroom upgrade that can make everyday life surprisingly more comfortable. Plus you never know when we will have a toilet paper shortage. 🧻

Meet Nikon from Manassas, the proud pup of a beautifully renovated home!

From stunning new doors (interior and exterior) throughout the house to redesigned bathrooms, every area was carefully planned to improve the living spaces for his family (including Canon, his feline brother). One of his favorite spots? Right by the new front door, where he eagerly awaits to go outside.

Warm, welcoming, and packed with thoughtful details.

This 𝗔𝘀𝗵𝗯𝘂𝗿𝗻 𝗸𝗶𝘁𝗰𝗵𝗲𝗻 started as an all-white space, but the remodel introduced a mix of warm oak and white maple cabinetry, giving the room much more character and depth.

And the changes went well beyond finishes. A former pantry closet was converted into cabinetry, countertop space, and a beverage center. The opening between the kitchen and family room was widened to improve connection, while a new garden window, an oversized sink, a 48-inch induction range, and a quartzite slab added both function and personality to the space.

It's a great example of what we love about kitchen remodeling: creating a space that doesn't just 𝗹𝗼𝗼𝗸 𝗱𝗶𝗳𝗳𝗲𝗿𝗲𝗻𝘁, but works better for the people who use it every day.

Remodeling Myth: More Cabinets = More Storage

It sounds logical...

More cabinets should mean more storage.

But that's not always the case.

A kitchen with thoughtfully designed drawers, pull-outs, pantry storage, and organizational features often holds more—and works better—than one with rows of standard cabinets.

Great storage isn't measured by the number of cabinets. It's measured by how easily you can 𝘶𝘴𝘦 𝘵𝘩𝘦𝘮.

Back-to-school season has a way of reminding everyone how many bathrooms you don’t have.

Morning routines, schedules, and the inevitable “bathroom shuffle” can make things feel a little crowded.

Adding an extra bathroom isn’t just about home value—it’s about making everyday life run a little more smoothly.

If you are looking for less bathroom shuffle, maybe it is time to consider a bathroom remodel.

Football season has a way of bringing everyone together. 🏈

And if everyone is squeezing into the same room upstairs while you have an unfinished—or underused—basement downstairs, it might be time to rethink that space.

A basement remodel can create the kind of gathering space that works well beyond football season: comfortable seating for the big game, a wet bar or beverage center, a game area for the kids (and adults), or simply another place for family and friends to spread out.

The best basement remodels aren't just about adding finished square footage. They're about creating 𝘂𝘀𝗲𝗳𝘂𝗹 𝘀𝗾𝘂𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝗳𝗼𝗼𝘁𝗮𝗴𝗲 that fits the way your family actually lives.

September Home Care Tip: Give Your Downspouts a Quick Check

After a summer filled with heavy rain and storms, take a few minutes to walk around your home and check your downspouts.

Make sure they’re clear of leaves and debris, securely connected, and—most importantly—directing water 𝗮𝘄𝗮𝘆 𝗳𝗿𝗼𝗺 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗳𝗼𝘂𝗻𝗱𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻. Look for pooling water, washed-out mulch or soil, and areas that stay soggy long after the rain stops. Those can all be signs that water isn’t draining where it should.

It’s a simple check that takes less than an hour, but it can help protect your foundation, basement, landscaping, and exterior from water problems down the road.
