Slifco's Bobby Roop is making us hungry for more BIM wisdom AND pie! Check out the linked blog for how BIM expertise is incorporated into every project!

A pizza pie, chicken pot pie, and pecan pie are all technically pies. But that does NOT mean they require the same ingredients, prep work, budget, or baking process.

So why do so many contractors approach every BIM project the exact same way?

This awesome analogy came from Bobby Roop from Slifco Electric in a recent collab webinar where we compared different BIM projects to different types of pies, and it explains a huge problem in the industry.

This blog breaks down:
- Why some BIM projects are way more complex than others
- How contractors accidentally underestimate BIM scope
- What questions should actually be asked before bidding
- And why BIM is way more than “just making a model”

Everyone wanted to be a kid at Bring Your Kid to Word Day yesterday! There was no shortage of fun, with an obstacle course, “Design Your Own Logo”, a scavenger hunt, “How to estimate a project”, a tool matching game, hard hat decorating, and the best part: flying candy out of the bucket truck! We loved showing the kids around the office- planning for 2027 starts now!

As we wrap up our Women in Construction spotlight series, we are proud to feature Lisa, one of our Site Superintendents.

Inspired by a family of electricians, Lisa never believed there was anything she could not do. Throughout her career she has embraced the ever changing nature of construction and the opportunity to keep learning every day while working alongside great people.

Lisa encourages women entering the industry to connect and collect. Go out of your way to meet other women in the field, make introductions, exchange contact information, and support one another. Her advice is to always be the big sister and gain as much experience as possible along the way.

One of Lisa’s proudest accomplishments is simply that she never quit, even during times when she was the only woman on a project. Over the years she has built strong relationships, created lasting friendships, and mentored many women throughout their careers.

For Lisa, being a woman in construction means helping pave the way for others. She takes pride in proving that women belong in this industry and in lifting others up by sharing knowledge and experience.

Thank you, Lisa, for your leadership and the impact you continue to make in our industry.
