Teachable moments are the best here at Ashby Family Lawn & Landscapes! Today, this little helper got a lesson in washing the work truck and trailer—and, of course, had plenty of fun doing it!

We love getting to include our kiddos in these moments and teaching them that hard work can still come with lots of laughs and good memories.

Here at Ashby Family Lawn & Landscapes, we love a good teachable moment—especially when it turns into a little family fun!

Today, this boy learned how to help Dad wash the work truck and trailer…although I’m pretty sure more water ended up on him than on either one! 😂 These are the sweet little moments that make running a family business so special—teaching our kiddos to work hard, help out and always have a little fun along the way!

Serving Lawns. Serving People. And raising our little helpers right alongside us!

Two years. ❤️

Two years ago today, I stood in front of God, our kids, our family and some of the people we love most and married my best friend.

And Spencer… if we only knew then what these next two years were going to hold. 😂

We have dreamed together. We have built together. We have struggled together. We have celebrated some incredible things together. We have cried, prayed, laughed until we couldn’t breathe, probably gotten on each other’s last nerve a time or two 😂, and walked through things that I honestly don’t know how we would have gotten through without God and without each other.

We have watched our little family grow and change. We have chased some crazy dreams. We have built a business together. We have taken chances. We have fallen down. We have gotten back up. We have had moments where we wondered what in the world we were doing, and moments where we could look around and say, “Wow… look what God has done.”

And we are still building.

Still dreaming.

Still learning.

Still fighting for the life and the family we believe God has called us to have.

I love this little family of ours so much. I love the dreams we have together. I love that even when life gets messy—and goodness knows ours can get messy—we keep choosing to keep going.

And I am so incredibly grateful for your family too. They welcomed me and my kids with open arms and loved us as their own. That is something I will never take for granted.

Spencer, I love you. I love you, I love you, I LOVE YOU.

I love the man you are. I love the dad you are. I love dreaming with you. I love building with you. And even on the hard days, I still choose you.

When I look back at everything that has happened in just two years, I don’t see a perfect life or a perfect marriage. I see two people who keep showing up. Two people who keep praying. Two people who keep dreaming. Two people who keep fighting for each other, for our family and for the future we know God is still writing.

We are blessed, Spencer.

So, so blessed.

Not because everything has been easy. It hasn’t. But because through every mountain, every valley, every answered prayer and every prayer we’re still waiting on, God has been right here.

Lord, thank You. Thank You for this man. Thank You for our children. Thank You for our family. Thank You for the people You have placed around us. Thank You for the dreams in our hearts and even for the hard seasons that have taught us how strong we can be together.

Two years down, babe. And there is still so much life left for us to live.

So many dreams left to chase.

So many memories left to make.

And I wouldn’t want to do any of it with anyone else.

Happy 2nd Anniversary, Spencer Ashby.

Here’s to us. To our crazy, beautiful little family. To everything we’ve already made it through. And to everything God still has ahead of us.

I love you more than I could ever fit into a Facebook post. ❤️

AI Landscaping Bloopers: Part 2

Well, the AI video studio improved a little—it actually managed to put Ashby Family Lawn & Landscapes on the door this time. Our logo was still nowhere to be found, but we’ll count the business name as progress.

Now, can someone please explain what these guys are doing? One is down on his knees using equipment we don’t recognize, and somehow grass appears to be blowing out of the blower.

We may not always understand what AI is thinking, but it certainly gave us a good laugh. For the record, no real lawns were harmed—and this is definitely not how the Ashby crew provides lawn care.

AI Landscaping Blooper: Part 1

Spencer decided to try an AI video studio to create an advertisement for Ashby Family Lawn & Landscapes. He gave it our business name, explained what we do, and even uploaded our logo.

The first video came back in a completely different language—and this attempt somehow has grass flying out of the blower while someone works on their knees with equipment we don’t even recognize.

Needless to say, none of our crew members were involved in the making of this video. AI may be getting smarter, but it clearly isn’t ready to join our landscaping team just yet.

Stay tuned for the next AI landscaping blooper. It may be even better than this one.

The Heart Behind the Ashby Vision

Lately, Spencer and I have been praying and talking a lot about how we envision the future of Ashby Family Lawn & Landscapes. As we have prayed, the same things have continued to come back to our hearts, and we feel it is time to share the vision behind this business and what we hope it will continue growing to become.

When you support a small business, you are supporting so much more than the service being provided. Behind every small business are real people with a story, a reason they started, and a vision for what they hope to build.

Spencer and I have both carried a desire to build something of our own, but even more than that, we wanted to build something together. I had a heart for creating a business, and lawn care was work Spencer already knew and had experience doing. Those two things came together and became Ashby Family Lawn & Landscapes.

What began as a shared dream for our family has continued to grow into something much greater. As we have worked, prayed, learned, and served people, God has continued revealing a deeper purpose for this business and a clearer vision for what we believe it can become.

Ashby Family Lawn & Landscapes was never created simply to cut grass. Lawn care may be the service we provide, but people are the reason behind everything we do.

Our first purpose is to honor God through the way we live, work, lead, and serve. We want our faith to be seen through our honesty, integrity, compassion, work ethic, and the way we treat every person God places in our path.

Our second purpose is to build a healthy and sustainable business that provides for our family and allows us to create a meaningful life together. We understand that building something from the ground up requires hard work and sacrifice. But our long-term vision is not for Spencer—or anyone on our team—to remain exhausted and in survival mode. We want to build something strong enough to care for our family, provide meaningful opportunities for our employees, and continue serving our community for many years to come.

Our third purpose is to genuinely love and serve people. We want our customers to know they are more than another property on a route. We want them to feel heard, respected, cared for, and confident that we will always do our best to serve them honestly.

We know that many people can mow a lawn, trim an edge, or blow off a driveway. What makes Ashby Family different is not simply what we do—it is the heart behind how we do it. We offer dependable service, honest communication, personal care, and a relationship with a local family that is genuinely invested in the people and communities we serve.

Right now, our vision is not centered on becoming a nationwide company or growing simply for the sake of becoming bigger. Our focus is on building a strong, respected local company that serves our community well and, in time, may reach more of the Piedmont area. At the same time, we never want to place limits on where God may lead us in the future. We want to grow faithfully, one season and one opportunity at a time, while remaining true to the heart and values on which this company was built.

As we grow, we hope to build a team of people who believe in this vision with us—people who care about doing excellent work, serving others, growing together, and helping build something meaningful. We want our employees to feel valued, supported, and proud to be part of the Ashby Family.

We are still a young company, and every season has helped shape us into better business owners and leaders. We are committed to listening, learning, strengthening our systems, and continually improving the experience we provide for our customers and our team. We are proud of how far we have come, while remaining humble enough to know that building something meaningful requires continued growth, wisdom, and faith.

Not every customer or employee will be the right fit for Ashby Family, and that is okay. Our goal is not to be everything to everyone. Our goal is to faithfully serve the people God places in our path and create a company that our family, our team, and our community can believe in.

We want people to say, “Yes, we want some Ashby,” because they know that when the Ashby Family shows up, they will receive more than lawn care. They will receive honesty, respect, genuine care, and service from people who want to leave their property—and their day—a little better than we found it.

What began as a shared dream between the two of us has grown into a calling, a purpose, and a vision for something much greater than ourselves. We are grateful for every person who has trusted us, supported us, encouraged us, prayed for us, or allowed us to serve their family.

Serving Lawns. Serving People.

That is not simply our motto. It is the heart of who we are.
