You might be able to tell this is not how a box should be mounted on your roof ;) On this remove and reinstall we took out this glued down box and replaced with a box called a soladeck which mounts in the same way the shingles do to ensure a leak free way for the wiring to enter the roof!

More diagnostic and repair work done with this system we were removing for a roof replacement. The original installer made several mistakes here; 1) this wiring could of been done with 1 pull and not needed a junction box to avoid extra fail points 2) The installer used automotive wire crimps and did a poor job making the connections. Poor connections like this not only reduce system performance, but can create a lot of heat as you can tell by the burn marks on the wiring and lid of this box.
