New plantings need consistent water for the first few weeks to get established. A good rule of thumb is slow and deep a few times a week rather than a little every day.

And as temperatures start to drop this fall, do not ease up too soon. Roots need consistent moisture through October to get fully established before the ground freezes.

Getting the roots settled now means a healthier, stronger plant come next season.

That spiral does not maintain itself. Topiaries need consistent trimming through the growing season to hold their shape. Trim too little and they lose definition. Trim too much at once and you stress the plant.

The key is small, frequent cuts rather than one big shaping session. It takes patience but the result speaks for itself.
