Here's a little transformation to start your week. 🏡

This classic Tudor had great bones, but its front yard needed some structure. We built a stone retaining wall across the front, rebuilt the steps to match, cleaned up the beds with fresh, structured plantings and brought the lawn back to life.

Same house, completely different curb appeal!

Mums the word! 🍂 Fall is officially here, and you can't turn a corner without spotting them. They are very trendy to have on a porch in St. Louis. But while everyone's shopping for mums, here's also what your yard needs this time of year:

🌱 Overseeding. Warm soil and cool nights give new grass the best start before frost.
🌳 Tree & shrub planting. Roots keep growing all fall, so new plants go into spring already settled in.
🍁 Leaf cleanup. A wet mat of leaves smothers your lawn over winter.
💧 Irrigation blowout. One hard freeze can crack your lines.

Our fall calendar is filling up. Send us a message to get on the schedule!

From mowing lawns to full-service landscaping — 35+ years of Horstmann Brothers 🌿

It started in 1988, when brothers Paul and Phil Horstmann began mowing neighborhood lawns. Nearly four decades later, that same reputation for quality and creative problem-solving has grown into a full team of horticultural experts offering everything from landscape design and maintenance to irrigation, lighting, drainage, hardscapes, and snow removal.

Same neighborhood values. A lot more expertise.

🌿 Mulch: it's doing more work than you think.

Beyond just tidying up your beds, the right mulch locks in moisture, keeps roots protected from the summer heat, and cuts down on weeding. But not all mulch is created equal, and using the wrong type (or letting it sit too long) can actually work against you.

We're breaking down the different types of mulch, what each one does for your landscape, and how to know when it's time for a refresh — especially after a brutal St. Louis summer.
