Today, we recognize World Su***de Prevention Day and this year’s theme, “Changing the Narrative on Su***de.”
At NOOTER, safety has always meant looking out for one another. We identify hazards, plan our work, and take steps every day to make sure our people go home safely...but not every hazard is visible.
The pressures of our industry can be significant. Demanding schedules, time away from family, physical demands, and the expectation to “tough it out” can take a toll. Our commitment to safety has to extend beyond preventing physical injuries. It has to include the whole person.
Changing the narrative starts by creating a culture where asking for help is viewed as a strength, not a weakness. We do not need to have all the answers...sometimes the most important thing we can do is notice when someone seems different, ask how they are doing, listen without judgment and help them connect with support.
People look out for people:
🚩If someone does not seem like themselves, PLEASE take the time to check in.
🚩If you are struggling, PLEASE reach out - you are not alone.
Call or text 988 to reach the Su***de & Crisis Lifeline. It is confidential, free, and available 24/7. If there is an immediate danger to life, call 911 or seek emergency assistance.
