Roof top hvac units can be a challenge to deal with…

Especially when there’s little room for water to get around them….

There’s really only 1 solution to keep them dry….

Liquid applied products seal the seams and gaps so water can’t get in!

But look out….

Not all liquid products are created the same…..

Some work, some don’t, and some cause more problems….

This is when experience matters most!

Sometimes the obvious is not the answer….

This client called frantic during a routine cleanup we were doing on this roof….

We were blowing off debris and then……

The call….

ASHTON! Idk what’s happening up there but water is dumping in our ceiling…..

That’s strange, we are only using a blower and there’s no water on the roof…..

I’ll figure it out though….

After doing a little troubleshooting found a small pinhole and what appeared to be another repair prior. So I sealed the up well thinking that was the solution…..

A few days later the same thing which resulted in the same type of phone call…..

Well, I said I’m not sure what the cause is I’ll dig in and find it though…..

After reinspection and some more troubleshooting….

The problem was found!

There was an old exhaust pipe that was no longer in service, the pipe was still sticking the roof, but someone had cut the pipe off in the ceiling and left it wide open on top,
Water had been collecting in the elbow of the pipe for years, so when we were doing a routine maintenance and blowing debris off the roof as we ran the blowers near the pipe it shot the stagnant way out the cut off end inside….

That’s a first!

Always learning strange new things that people do wrong.

Fortunately for the client we are determined to SOLVE roof problems…

So that’s what we do!

It’s strange the things we find on top of a roof.

This was found after a call came in about a roof leak….

Apparently someone thought it would be entertaining to throw rocks and trash up on the roof from the ground….

Little did they realize that when these things hit the roof it would damage it and creat leaks🤦‍♂️

Fortunately for the building owners we were able to get the necessary repairs done before the next big storm
