At MLD, protecting your home doesn’t stop with protecting the finishes.

Any time we’re working on or around a utility—water, gas, electric, or anything else—we don’t just shut it down and drain the system. We take the extra step and lock it out and tag it.

On that tag, we document exactly why the service was shut down and what work was performed. We also clearly instruct the next person in line to verify that everything is safe before restoring service.

It’s a small extra step, but it eliminates assumptions and helps protect the homeowner, our crew, and the contractor coming in behind us.

That’s how we approach demolition.

The next contractor should be able to walk in and get to work—safely.

Knowing what to tear down is easy. Knowing exactly where to stop is the important part.

This garage took a direct hit from a fallen tree, leaving the upper structure compromised and in need of removal before it could be rebuilt.

The assignment for our crew was pretty straightforward: remove everything that needed to go — and nothing that didn’t.

With the garage tied directly into the home, this wasn’t a job for uncontrolled demolition. We carefully worked the damaged structure down while protecting the adjoining house and leaving the remaining masonry in place for the rebuild.

And instead of sending the original brick to the dumpster, our crew salvaged it as we worked and neatly stacked it on pallets so the masons can reuse it and maintain the original look of the home.

Four hours. Controlled demolition. Clean site. Original materials saved. Ready for the next trade.

There’s a big difference between tearing something down and knowing how to take it apart.

That’s what we do.

Any construction companies out there that are great at their trade, but maybe less great at the business side of it? Or maybe you’re just burnt out from trying to do both?

Do you ever dream about actually being paid what you’re worth, making sure the loyal employees who helped you build your company are appreciated and secure, and getting to go back to working the trade you once loved?

But only from 7-3, Monday-Friday.

The rest of your time is yours. It’s your family’s. It’s your friends you haven’t seen in years. It’s actually having a life outside of the company you built.

Our next steps are big. Really big.

And I think some of those steps might be easier by absorbing a construction company that, while it might need some adjustments on the business side, already has a solid team that knows how to work together and takes pride in what they do.

If any of this sounds like you, then maybe we should talk.

I’ll be the first to tell you, we are very particular about what we put our names on.

We will get frustrated with you sometimes and you’ll definitely get frustrated with us sometimes.

We will make you go back and redo something if it’s not right.

We will always respect and appreciate the people who work with us, and we’ll make damn sure we show it as much and as often as we can.

So yeah, we might make you go back and redo something today.

But we’ll probably be buying you lunch tomorrow while you’re already getting paid to eat it.

Maybe you don’t need to shut down the company you spent years building.

Maybe you just need someone else to carry the parts of it you never loved in the first place.
