πŸ”Œ Monday Myth vs. Fact πŸ”Œ

Every Monday, we'll bust a common electrical myth and share the facts to help you keep your home and business safe.

❌ MYTH:

"If a light bulb burns out frequently, you just need a higher-wattage bulb."

βœ… FACT:

A bulb that burns out repeatedly could be a sign of an underlying electrical problem. Loose connections, excessive heat, voltage issues, or even an incompatible fixture can cause bulbs to fail prematurely.

Simply installing a higher-wattage bulb may make the problem worseβ€”and can create a fire hazard if the fixture isn't rated for it.

If you're constantly replacing the same light bulb, there's probably more to the story.

πŸ’¬ Have you ever had a light bulb that seemed to burn out way too often? Let us know in the comments, and check back next Monday for another Monday Myth vs. Fact!

πŸ”Œ Monday Myth vs. Fact πŸ”Œ

Every Monday, we'll bust a common electrical myth and share the facts to help you keep your home and business safe.

❌ MYTH:

"If an outlet isn't being used, it doesn't use any electricity."

βœ… FACT:

An unused outlet itself doesn't consume electricity. However, devices that remain plugged in can still draw small amounts of power even when they're turned off or not actively being used.

Things like phone chargers, TVs, computers, and other electronics can continue using what's called standby power while plugged in.

Unplugging devices you don't regularly use can help reduce unnecessary energy consumption.

πŸ’¬ Did you think plugged-in devices stopped using electricity when they were turned off? Let us know in the comments, and check back next Monday for another Monday Myth vs. Fact!

πŸ”Œ Monday Myth vs. Fact πŸ”Œ

Every Monday, we'll bust a common electrical myth and share the facts to help you keep your home and business safe.

❌ MYTH:

"If a breaker keeps tripping, replacing it with a larger breaker will solve the problem."

βœ… FACT:

Circuit breakers trip for a reason. They're designed to protect your wiring from overheating and potential fire hazards. Installing a larger breaker without addressing the underlying issue can overload the wiring and create a serious safety risk.

If a breaker trips repeatedly, it's best to have the cause identified and corrected rather than bypassing the protection it provides.

Electrical safety starts with understanding why your system is trying to protect you.

πŸ’¬ Have you ever dealt with a breaker that kept tripping? Share your experience in the comments, and don't forget to check back next Monday for another Monday Myth vs. Fact!

Every Monday, we'll bust a common electrical myth and share the facts to help you keep your home and business safe.

❌ MYTH:

"It's okay to use extension cords as a permanent power solution."

βœ… FACT:

Extension cords are made for temporary use only. Relying on one every day can increase the risk of overheating, damaged cords, and even electrical fires, especially when powering high-demand appliances.

If you're constantly reaching for an extension cord, it may be time to add more outlets where you need them.

Knowing the facts is one of the easiest ways to improve electrical safety.

Did you know that overloaded outlets are one of the leading causes of electrical fires?

Avoid plugging multiple high-powered appliances into the same outlet, and replace damaged cords as soon as you notice them.

A few simple precautions can help keep your home and family safe.

Stay safe and have a great week!
