The difference is in the details. The tedious part of creating a fabulous piece of painted furniture. Hand painted, hand sanded. Razor blade smoothed for a porcelain smooth top. Purposeful distress marks where years of natural wear would occur. Tiny details added with a variety of tools and techniques. It takes days of work, not hours. But the wait is always worth it. This beautiful antique buffet is almost ready for its new home.

Part of the repurpose process is the tear down. Cutting, unscrewing, beating with a mallet and disconnecting all the part and pieces. Then we rebuild with a new design, a different use in mind. The before and after of this antique china cabinet look very similar. Yet will be very different when complete. A few things are now missing and for good reason.

Some kids fill their Summer with screen time and hanging out with friends. Some desire to learn and experience things they don’t get in the classroom. Meet Viola. She and her family are regular visitors to the shop. Enjoying the creativity at work. The noise, the power tools, the laughter and of course the cats. Viola spent two mornings a week with us. learning the fun and not so fun parts of a small business. The boring, tedious things that take place before the fun stuff. Wrestling with old, difficult hardware. Cleaning yuck covered antique furniture. Dusting a very dust filled working shop. And of course, managing the high needs of our overly affectionate Theo. The Summer flew by and now our fun, often singing intern is off to school with a schedule filled with advanced classes. We celebrate our special occasions indulging in Nothing Bundt Cakes. And having Viola was a special experience for us all. We will miss Viola but her family will visit often. We will save her spot for holiday vacations and an occasional weekend return to intern.

Painting furniture is more than putting paint on a piece of furniture. It’s a process. Slow, deliberate, skillfully planned. Then fine tuned again and again until the piece of work speaks for itself. Our custom creations take time and the wait is worth the results. We pour time, energy and a tiny bit of heart and soul into everything we touch. Our gift to you. Thank you for 20 fabulous years!

The real reward for what we do is the reaction. The joy, the excitement, the happiness the surprise! We take antiques that have been in the family for decades and reinvent them for the next generation.
Remade to carry this new kindergartener all the way through college and beyond.

Once a year we take a trip to a place many only dream of. A cottage on the lake in Charlevoix. We visit my 91 year old Dad and relive the traditions and memories my Mom created. Kids, Grandkids, Great Grandkids-we all share the same passion of this magical place. Where I become Nana Jojo - now just JoJo and Andy becomes Grandy. Names we embrace and replace the many business owner titles. The pressure of another year quickly evaporates like the morning dew on the beach. The annual trip is less about us though and all about family. We’re blessed enough to have two happy places. One where we work and one where we rest. We want to thank all of you for patiently waiting as we put projects on hold for a week. We will work long hours and extra days catching back up where left off.
