It's Friday! This kitchen had good bones, but it needed a refresh to make it feel more open, functional, and true to the homeowners’ style.

The transformation brings in a Midcentury Modern feel with warm cherry cabinets, high-end appliances, and a textured backsplash. By removing the raised bar and a few walls, NK Bend designer Jamie Rupprecht and her team opened up the kitchen to the rest of the main floor, making the space feel more connected.

And it’s the little details that really bring it all together, from custom cherry refrigerator handles and carefully matched wood grain to lighting that highlights the finished space. We even refinished the existing maple floors to tie everything together.

Swipe through to see how thoughtful design and remodeling can make such a difference in how a home looks and feels!

What happens when the power goes out at a fire station?

It’s more than an inconvenience. It can impact the people who are there to respond when their community needs them most. We’re happy to see our work with the Lyle Fire District come full circle with their new solar + storage system. Neil Kelly Solar installed a 49.72 kW PV system paired with 37.62 kWh of battery storage, powered by Sigenergy technology, to help keep critical operations running when the grid goes down.

We love projects like these because they show how energy resilience can mean so much more than keeping the lights on at home. It can help support the people and places our communities rely on every day.

Since 1953, the Lyle Fire District has been a neighbor helping neighbors. We’re proud to have played a small part in supporting them.

Remember when we showed you the footings going in? Well, here’s what’s happening now. 👀

The stem walls are up on this custom home we’re working on in Bend, and we’re getting closer to framing! We’ll keep following along as this project really starts to take shape.

We’re pretty excited to see this project get some recognition!

Designed by Neil Kelly designer Jamie Rupprecht, this addition received Gold in the 2026 Qualified Remodeler Master Design Awards in the Less Than $250,000 category.

It’s a great example of how thoughtful design can add space and function while still feeling connected to the original home. Congrats, Jamie! We’re so happy to see this one recognized. 👏

This bathroom already had a solid foundation, but the homeowners wanted something that felt a little more special and a lot more like their home.

The goal was to honor the era of the house by echoing the built-ins and woodwork found throughout, while giving the space a fresh, modern feel. With a layout that didn’t leave much room to reconfigure, the design came down to making every detail work harder: custom built-in vanities for maximum storage, an inset medicine cabinet, and thoughtful placement of towel bars and robe hooks.

And then there’s the wallpaper. 🤍

The homeowners fell in love with Lonesome Pictopia’s “Lone Mountain” print the moment they saw it. A western meadowlark among a Montana meadow felt especially perfect for a family of avid birders! Getting approval to reproduce the one-off print wasn’t a walk in the park, and it was certainly an investment, but seeing it all come together made it worth it.

We love how this space balances character, function, and a little bit of whimsy. Proof that sometimes the smallest rooms deserve the biggest design attention.

Wildfire season is changing in Oregon, and preparedness isn't just for homes in the forest.

If the fires in Spokane and Los Angeles taught us anything, it's that many homes are lost because of wind-blown embers, not direct flames. Simple maintenance like cleaning gutters, clearing the first five feet around your home, and choosing fire-resistant materials during renovations can make a real difference. Oregon experts emphasize "home hardening" as one of the most effective ways to reduce wildfire risk.

Save this post for later, share it with a neighbor, and if you're planning an exterior remodel, we'd be happy to discuss ways to improve your home's resilience while creating a space you'll love.
