Quick Cabin Check: Listen for Hollow Logs
One simple way to check for possible log rot is to tap the log with the base of your palm and listen. A solid log should sound firm. A hollow thud may indicate that moisture or decay has affected the wood beneath the surface.
This does not replace a professional inspection, but it can help you spot areas that may need a closer look.
