MEC is under new ownership!!! On September 30, 2026 - Phil Martin and Steve Walker transitioned the ownership of the company to Adam Pallai and Tyler Walker (yes, Steve's son). We are excited for this next generation of ownership (G3). But don't fret...Phil and Steve aren't going anywhere. Both are staying on for a bit to help with the transition before retiring. Congratulations on an outstanding career Phil and Steve!! Oh and happy belated birthday Walker - also September 30th!

The City of Springfield hired MEC to design the connection of Stockyard Road. The connection is located near the Menards on the northeast side of town. Due to property ownership, the road in front of Menards could not connect to the existing Stockyard Road for direct access to Sangamon Avenue. The City has remedied that property ownership issue and asked us earlier this year to prepare the design. We are of the opinion that this new connection will be highly utilized. The Phase 1 units are nearing completion in Oakbrook Hill apartments in Chatham Il just south of the high school. Sanitary sewer is under construction.

Here is an article from the Decatur Herald & Review for the Nelson Boat Ramp project. MEC provided civil engineering, land surveying, and assistance with concepts for the public input on the preferred ramp and courtesy dock layout for the City of Decatur.

Construction is underway on Phase 2 of improvements to Southeast High School. Phase 1 was completed last year and was the football complex. Phase 2 is the creation of two new Large parking lots. This project will provide more on-site parking for larger crowds and also serves to replace the parking lot currently located at the northwest corner of Cornell Avenue and Taylor Avenue. Phase 3 will be next year and that will be for a new Fieldhouse, which will be located where the old parking lot used to be .

Graham & Hyde Architects, Inc. are the project architects, and our client , for all of this. Otto Baum Company, Inc. is the general contractor for Phase 2, which will be a concrete parking lot. Petersburg Plumbing and Excavating, LLC. served as a subcontractor to Otto Baum, and provided the storm sewer installation for the project.
