TIME TO WATER! It is DRY. Deep soak your plants & lawn. It has been 15 days since it last rained 0.5" on April 25th. General rule is plants need 1" of water every 2 weeks. We are in a water deficit.
May Water Instructions:
-Deep Soak trees, shrubs, perennials 1 x every 2 weeks. Use the shower head - (like the one Austin is using in the photo) or a hose with no end on it & water trees for 1-2min, shrubs 20 sec, perennials 10 sec. Or set your drip/soaker hose to run for 45 min.
-Lawn sprinklers: Set your spray zones to run for 15min. Rotors 25min. Water 1-2 x week.
-Stick a screwdriver in the ground 6", if soil sticks to it- no need to water, let it dry out a few days and check again. If it is dry and dusty and nothing sticks to it, or its so hard you can't get it in the ground, it's time to water! South facing slopes & sandy soil need more water. Shaded areas, north facing slopes, low lying soil, clay soil needs less water. Avoid over watering.
