2026 Labor Day Celebration
Monday, September 7, 2026

Springfield Area:
Parade: There will not be a parade in Springfield.
Picnic: Sangamo Surf Club (Noon – 2:00 PM) located at 405 E. Lake Shore Dr., Springfield, IL. Free lunch/beverages, cash bar for alcohol – NO COOLERS ALLOWED. Sponsored by the SMW Local 218-S Retirees’ Club.

Champaign Area:
Parade Formation: 10:00 AM at the corner of Walnut St. & Main St.
Parade Starts/Route: 11:00 AM Chestnut St. & Main St.—Proceeding from Chestnut St. through downtown to Neil St. and ending at the corner of Neil St. and Washington St. (May change due to construction)
Picnic: Downtown (Neil Street Plaza) - Free food, beverages, games & entertainment.

Decatur Area:
Parade Formation: 8:30 AM at Franklin and Wood St.
Parade Starts: 10:00 AM Downtown Decatur
Picnic: Fairview Park Pavilion after the parade. Free food/beverages, entertainment, & games.

SMART Local 218D is opening another round of apprenticeship applications.
