30 years ago we lost a wonderful man. He was the most honorable person I’ll ever know. He was my hero, and the kind of man, I will always wish I was. He had an amazing spirit, and a love for the Lord that we should all strive to emulate. He touched the hearts of so many. The better you knew him, the more you were affected by his gentle kindness.
We were as close as brothers could be. and i will never forget him.

This was the scene from my hospital room on the ninth floor at Cox on Tuesday morning.

I was sore, but doing well thanks to a dedicated and gifted surgeon named Tessa Woods. Overnight on Saturday she’d spent nearly four exhausting hours pushing, and poking my insides back where they belong, and skillfully securing them in place. This becomes even more amazing when you realize she did her work through five small incisions, so the recovery would be much easier.

It’s no coincidence to me that a few weeks ago I set a reminder on my phone that tells me every morning that each sunrise 🌅 is indeed a gift from God, and should be cherished.

Thanksgiving has been my favorite Holiday all of my adult life. This year I couldn’t even scratch the surface telling of all the blessings in my life.
It seems I’m surrounded by gifted, dedicated people in my life when I need them the most.

At work I have the privilege of working with the most gifted and dedicated people in all of the construction industry. It’s true that nearly everything that gets done, gets done, whether I’m there or not. I’m so grateful for their talent, their loyalty, and their hard work.

Every year our family serves Thanksgiving dinner at our church to any that wants to come. There are people who show up every year... some because they haven’t the means to prepare the meal.... some because a they don’t have anyone to share the holiday with and they don’t want to be alone... others that come to share the joy of fellowship of caring loving family and friends.
Today my wife Debbie and our son Jason (again gifted dedication is a good description) took the lead on our Thanksgiving tradition as they do every year. With me recovering, and no help at all. (Ok I know I’m not much help any year but this year I know I was a burden)
They were supported by so many people, both family and friends that are to numerous to mention.

To the Doctor I met Saturday... to all those who I have the opportunity to work with... to the more than 130 of those who came to share their Thanksgiving Day with us today... to friends that are always there and willing to step up when we need them...
For a loving family that shares their life with me.... finally and most important for our Heavenly Father who I’m sure loves us all more than we will ever understand.
For you all, I’m forever truly Thankful.

Here we are again with Christmas right around the corner. We can’t put it off, It’s coming whether we’re ready or not…. So are you ready?
What does that mean? What do you need to do to be ready for Christmas?
For most of us it means the shopping’s done, the gifts are wrapped, and menu is planned. If you’re traveling, those plans are in place. I could never show enough appreciation to my wife, who works so hard every year to get the perfect gift for everyone on our list, does all the shopping, does all the wrapping, and makes nearly all the plans for our family.
If all those things are done, you should be ready, right? You can relax, and enjoy the festivities. You can enjoy the fellowship of family and friends. You can enjoy the smiles on the children’s faces in anticipation of opening their gifts. Sounds like a perfect Holiday doesn’t it? Wouldn’t it be wonderful if it was that simple.
Truth is, most of us don’t have the picture perfect Holiday we see in the television commercials. How many of ever have, or ever will wake up on Christmas morning, look out our window and see a shiny new Lexus with a giant bow around it. The reality may be we couldn’t fit the gift expenses in the budget. Maybe we’re not getting along with other family members, and we're not looking forward to spending time with them. Maybe we’ll just be glad when it’s all over.
I’m no expert on perfect Holidays. I always think this is the year it’s going to be special. This is the year everybody will get along. This is the year everybody will appreciate what they have, and not be disappointed in what was on their list, but missing under the tree. You and your loved ones will reflect and be grateful for the blessings in your life.
Maybe the secret to experiencing the perfect Holiday can be found in remembering the struggle of a young pregnant girl and her husband on what had to be a long hard journey to Bethlehem. Maybe it’s remembering that God chose to share the news with poor hard working shepherds, as well as kings. Maybe it’s remembering that Jesus came into the world in far less comfortable surroundings than any of us find ourselves in these days.

I will readily admit I'll always have more questions than answers. I'll never be as good a person as I should be. And I'll never earn or deserve the blessings in my life. But there's one thing I can, and will do this Christmas. I will express the gratitude I have in my heart to the people I love and cherish.
I had the opportunity to have lunch today with over thirty of the best guys in construction. They work very hard, they're very loyal, and without them this company would never have seen the success, that they've made possible. I want to say a heartfelt thank you to all of them, and to their families, to wish them all a very Merry Christmas

We held our semiannual company-wide safety meeting on Thursday November 30, 2017.
Thanks to the efforts of a great group of people, we’ve made a lot of progress, and it’s paying off well. We’ve had ZERO lost-time injuries since we met in May of this year. That success meant we were able to put in $3,000.00 in our safety award program making it a total payout of $5,500.00 in 2017. Congratulations to all of guys, who shared the money.
More important than the money is the fact after working nearly 40,000 hours in the last six months, everybody went home at the end of the day without a single serious injury. This kind of result doesn’t happen without everybody making smart decisions, and exercising good judgement when it comes to working safe, and working smart.
Our focus for this meeting was the new OSHA regulations regarding silica dust, and the hazards we can encounter on the jobsite. Thanks to Paul Webb, and Dan Burlison for the work and time they’ve spent putting this program together. And thanks to Brett Thomas with Sunbelt for the lift training and certifications.
Our short term result is incredible… But how great would it be if next May we’re able to say we’ve been over a year without a lost time accident on the job. Let’s continue on this road to success when it comes to safety.
