Let’s take a moment to talk about w**d barrier.

A lot of people think w**d barrier is a one time cure all for w**d problems in the garden. The truth is that it has its place, but it isn’t a fix all solution.

Mitigating w**ds starts from the ground up with proper prep. At BL Landscapes, we only use barrier in specific situations, and when we do, it is a commercial grade product that far outperforms what you’ll find at a big box store.

We use woven fabric under decorative rock and sometimes under cedar chips in vegetable gardens. Its purpose is to keep materials and soil from migrating together. Before any barrier goes down, we strip the ground bare and remove w**ds, grass, seeds, and debris so the foundation is clean and intentional.

We avoid using w**d barrier under organic materials. New w**d and grass seeds simply land on top of the mulch and root above the barrier, making maintenance harder in the long run.
