Steel is going up at Impact Church in Ozark! 👏

We’re excited to see this 18,000-square-foot project taking shape, with a 400-seat sanctuary, classrooms, youth space, and a central fellowship area designed to bring people together. hdesigngroup is proud to be part of the team helping turn this vision into reality!

Two ribbon cuttings. Two very different projects. One great day for hdesigngroup! 🎉✂️ 🐅🥳

Yesterday we had the opportunity to celebrate two important milestones for projects we’re incredibly proud to have helped bring to life. In Nixa, The Meadows at Wicklow marked another step forward for O’Reilly Development’s growing Wicklow community. Designed by hdesigngroup, the 240-unit development brings a mix of modern housing options together with a clubhouse, pool, dog park, and other amenities designed around community and everyday living.

Later that afternoon, we joined Republic School District for the Grand Opening of the new 121,000-square-foot Republic Activities Center. The facility features a 65,000-square-foot indoor turf field along with spaces for band, choir, JROTC, strength training, cheer, dance, golf, wrestling, classrooms, and community gatherings-creating new opportunities for Republic students both during and beyond the school day.

Seeing a project move from an idea on paper to a place filled with people is one of the most rewarding parts of what we do. Congratulations to O’Reilly Development, Republic School District, and all of the owners, contractors, consultants, and team members who helped make these projects possible. We were honored to celebrate with you!

BACK TO SCHOOL | PROJECT SPOTLIGHT 5 OF 5 🍎

What better way to close out our Back to School series than by opening the doors to something brand new? 🎉 Today, Republic School District will celebrate the Grand Opening of the Republic Activities Center, and hdesigngroup is proud to have helped bring this incredible facility from vision to ribbon cutting. At 121,000 square feet, the new center was shaped by community input and designed to create more opportunities for Republic students to learn, train, perform, compete, and come together.

Inside, a 65,000-square-foot indoor turf field is joined by 56,000 square feet of classroom and training space for band, choir, JROTC, cheer, dance, golf, wrestling, strength training, and more-plus a 150-seat community room for gatherings and celebrations. Bold school colors and dynamic brickwork tie the facility back to the existing campus while giving Republic something distinctly its own. Today we’re not just celebrating a new building—we’re celebrating the students, educators, and community who will bring it to life for years to come. 🐅🐅🐅

BACK TO SCHOOL | PROJECT SPOTLIGHT 4 OF 5 🍎

75 years of Delaware pride-and a school designed for every learner. Since opening in 1951, Delaware Elementary has served generations of Springfield students and today continues as a special education hub for specialized programs.

hdesigngroup, working alongside Hollis + Miller as our educational design consultant, helped create a school where inclusion shaped the design from the beginning-from integrated SPED spaces and flexible learning areas to abundant daylight, calming colors, playful wayfinding, and adaptable lighting designed around students’ sensory needs. Because a school designed for every student creates a better place to learn for everyone.

A huge congratulations to Architect Dani Alexander and Architect Kaleb Mann on passing their NCARB exams and reaching this major professional milestone! Becoming a licensed architect takes an incredible amount of dedication, discipline, and persistence, and both Dani and Kaleb have put in the work to make it happen. We’re proud to have them on the hdesigngroup team and excited to celebrate this well-earned achievement with them. Congratulations, Dani and Kaleb- this is a big one! 🎉👏

BACK TO SCHOOL | PROJECT SPOTLIGHT 3 OF 5 🍎

Downtown Springfield is in the middle of a major transformation and Missouri State University’s Brick City is right at the center of it. With the Renew Jordan Creek project reshaping the area along Mill and Water Streets, this part of downtown is becoming an even stronger connection point for education, creativity, culture, and community.

hdesigngroup helped give new life to Brick City Buildings 1 and 5, transforming former industrial warehouses into creative academic spaces for MSU’s Department of Art and Design, studio environments, and a cooperative pharmacy program with UMKC. We love projects like this- places where history is preserved, old buildings get a new purpose, and the surrounding neighborhood continues to evolve right along with them!

Another great Springfield project is officially open!

Congratulations to Thompson Sales Company on the opening of their new Quick L**e facility at 1515 E. Independence Street. hdesigngroup is proud to have served as architect for this new automotive service center, designed with eight fully equipped service bays, an expanded customer waiting area, and a layout focused on improving capacity, efficiency, and the overall customer experience.

We’re grateful for the opportunity to work with a longtime Springfield business as they continue to invest and grow in our community. Congratulations to the entire Thompson Sales team! 🎉

BACK TO SCHOOL | PROJECT SPOTLIGHT 2 OF 5 🍎

A new school doesn’t have to feel new to its neighborhood.

For Mary S. Boyd Elementary School, hdesigngroup and Hollis + Miller designed a modern learning environment that respects the history, scale, and character of Springfield’s Midtown neighborhood. Warm brick, thoughtful detailing, welcoming porches, and strong civic presence help the school feel connected to the community it serves.

Inside, flexible learning spaces, classrooms, fine arts areas, and shared gathering spaces support today’s students while celebrating Boyd’s long-standing place in the neighborhood.

At hdesigngroup, we believe great school design goes beyond function. It’s about understanding the community around it and designing a place that truly belongs there.

BACK TO SCHOOL | PROJECT SPOTLIGHT 1 OF 5 🍎

As students across Springfield Public Schools head back to the classroom, we’re celebrating the places where learning happens—and the opportunity we’ve had to help shape them.

First up is Sunshine Elementary School, a school with a history stretching back to the days of a one-room schoolhouse near the end of the Civil War. In 2020, hdesigngroup helped write the next chapter in that story with a major renovation and 29,400-square-foot addition that doubled the school to 58,800 square feet. Designed to serve 350 students, the reimagined Sunshine Elementary brought together modern classrooms, special education spaces, art, music, a gymnasium, library, cafeteria, and collaborative learning areas—all while building upon the legacy of a school that has served generations of Springfield students.

We’re proud to design educational spaces that support students, teachers, and communities today—and are ready to grow with them tomorrow!

Stay tuned as we highlight more hdesigngroup school projects in our Back to School series!

The April 2025 no-tax rate increase bond issue has already paid for the completion of window safety film at all buildings, HVAC upgrades at Price Elementary, and HVAC and audio upgrades at Republic Middle School, but the two major additions and renovations are under construction right now.
