🍂 Nashville is heading into a new season, and your plumbing deserves a quick check too.

Before cooler weather settles in, take a few minutes to walk around your home.

Check your outdoor faucets for leaks.

Look underneath sinks for moisture.

Take a quick look at your water heater.

And make sure you know where your home's main water shutoff is located.

That last one is especially important.

If a pipe ever springs a leak, knowing how to shut off the water can help limit the damage while you figure out what to do next.

A few minutes of preparation now can give you a lot more peace of mind later.

It might help move the grease temporarily.

But that doesn't mean it disappears.

As grease travels farther through cooler sections of your plumbing, it can cool down and stick to the inside of the pipes.

Over time, that buildup can contribute to drainage problems.

So instead of relying on hot water to solve the problem:

Keep grease out of the drain in the first place.

Let it cool, put it in a container, and dispose of it properly.

We've all been there.

Low water pressure can happen for several reasons.

Sometimes it's something simple, like buildup around a faucet aerator or showerhead.

But if the pressure suddenly drops throughout your entire home, that's something different.

Here's a simple first step:

Check whether the low pressure is happening at one fixture or everywhere.

If it's only one faucet, the issue may be localized.

If the entire house suddenly has low pressure, that's worth investigating further.

Knowing where the problem is happening can tell you a lot.

Take 30 seconds today and check for:

✔️ Damp spots
✔️ Water stains
✔️ Corrosion around connections
✔️ Musty smells
✔️ Standing water

You don't need to be a plumber to spot that something looks different.

One of the easiest ways to avoid kitchen drain problems is simply being careful about what goes down the sink.

Things like cooking grease, coffee grounds, eggshells, fibrous vegetable scraps, and large food particles can create problems inside your plumbing.

Even if they go down without a problem today, they can collect inside the pipes over time.

Instead, scrape food into the trash or compost before washing dishes.

And with grease?

Let it cool and dispose of it properly instead of pouring it down the drain.

Because a drain that slowly gets slower isn't always “just a little buildup.”

Hair, soap residue, grease, and other debris can gradually accumulate inside your pipes.

The mistake we see homeowners make is waiting until the water stops draining completely.

If you notice a drain taking longer and longer to empty, that's a good time to pay attention.

Slow drainage is often easier to deal with than a completely blocked drain.

Try cleaning the visible drain cover and removing any accessible debris first.
