Update 5/14/26 9:45AM:
Reid made it to inpatient rehab yesterday. After their assessment they feel he is doing awesome and believe he should get to come home as early as Tuesday next week! He will go through outpatient rehab, have a surgery on his right hand and more follow up scans and tests – but considering where we were three weeks ago we are so excited! Thank you everyone for your continued prayers. We’ll try to let everyone know when he’s home and how soon he might be back to work!
Updated 5/5/26 8PM:
Reid is making amazing improvements! We have been in a “normal” room for almost week and have been acclimating to life there the past week. The doctors are impressed with how quickly he is recovering. Despite his body not being 100%, his sense of humor and chattiness is almost back to normal. 😊 Reid leaves the hospital this week for inpatient rehab at a facility that specializes in his injuries. We will keep everyone posted on his progress and how he’s doing. We still ask for no visitors, thank you.
We cannot thank you all enough for the prayers and support. Reid has been reading the messages daily – they are truly what’s motivating and pushing him to get better. Thank you! Thank you! You all are such a blessing to us! - Rory, Mindy, & Riley Krueger
Update 4/29/26 1PM:
Reid had more tests ran last night and has made some really amazing improvements. Reid gets to leave icu today and go upstairs to his own room where he will continue therapy. The doctors and nurses at Cox South have been beyond awesome in taking care of him. We cannot thank everyone enough for the continued prayers and support. We read the shout outs to Reid daily and you can see his determination grow. You all truly have been what gets him through the pain and hard moments. We will continue to update everyone with his progress. We ask still no visitors at this time because too much stimulation makes him overwhlemed.
Update 4/26/26 2PM:
Updates will probably be less often at this point! Long night but we think as he is becoming more awake he is becoming more agitated and uncomfortable. They did another MRI on the neck early this morning - everything was “stable and the hemoglobin on the neck may be a little smaller”. Blood work doesn’t look to have changed any. They are starting him on aspirin/blood thinners today and maybe he will get to go upstairs tomorrow. Not much new but what is new is a step in the right direction. When it comes to the stroke and paralysis risk: Stable - small improvement with the hematoma on the spine which is awesome. It is a step in the right direction. The fracture on the skull and the vertebral artery tear will take months to fully heal. The next week to 2 weeks will be hard but that is expected with the improvement. He ate some bites of a Wendy’s burger early this afternoon and was able to walk from his bed to the hallway with a bit of help. His brain is still scrambled: he will make some sense and answer questions and say sentances and then other times make no sense at all! Still asking for no visitors at this time, thank you so much for your prayers and support for our family!
Update 4/25/26 9:30AM:
Overall improvement! Dad said that last night was much better and Reid was able to stay asleep enough that dad also was able to get sleep. He did want his sea collar off quite a few times. He ate entire cup of yogurt and fruit this morning. 😊 He is talking more in complete sentences and is understanding everything we’re saying. He’s answering questions very clearly and using words with more than 1 syllable. So all in all, much better cognitively. We have a MRI scheduled for tomorrow morning, and we are wanting some prayers that his brain bleed and artery are much better. His hemoglobin is still very very low and we are on the stroke and paralysis risk as well which is our main concern. We still ask for no visitors as he still kind of in and out of sleep.
Update 4/24/26 1:15PM:
We ate some food! Some smoothie and pineapple. He told me (sister) hi and cracked a smile gave me a very friendly gesture. 😉
Update 4/24/26 12:45PM
CT and MRI showed his artery and skull are a little worse: very main concern is paralysis and stroke. We will be in the NTICU for a little bit until the artery and skull can heal to a spot where He is sitting up in a chair and took a few steps this morning but is still sleeping very much. He has still not taken any food, his hemoglobin is very low and is liver is very maxed out. We are awake every once in a while but confused and a little less wild. Small wins and some scares as well. We still ask for no visitors for a while. Thank you all for your love and support and prayers!!
Update 4/23/26 5PM:
Nothing really showed up in the CT scan. He went in for an MRI about 20 minutes ago and will be there for about two hours. Need prayers that again there will be either no or very low brain swelling going on.
Update 4/23/26 3:45PM:
Reid is still "awake" every once in a while, a little beligerant and unaware of what is going on. Still not taking food and will drift back to sleep. He came back from a CT scan about 3:20PM and we will hopefully get good news on that. Our main conern right now is his head and artery. We could use some prayers that the CT will show low brain swelling or no swelling and as least damage as possible! We still ask that we have no visitors for a while, thank you.
Update 8:30AM:
We do ask that visitors hold off for a little has Reid is having a rough time coming off the meds. If you can share that with others asking we appreciate it. We need prayers that Reid will rest and peacefully and come off of the medicine. Dad stayed with him all night and said it was a rough night; a mix between hallucination and full consciousness with little bits of sleeping. Lots of asking for help, to take the collar off, to set him up, and mixes of him being able to talk normally. He still won’t eat so that could use some prayers as well. It’s been over 36 hours since he’s has food.
Update 9:50PM:
Wow. The outpouring of prayers is unbelievable. He’s resting in NTICU. He was semi conscious every now and then and taking some small sips of water around 5:30. Did an ultrasound of his left foot and all was good there for blood flow. Monitoring his oxygen. His oxygen is pretty low when he doesn’t have it fed to him. They don’t have any tests ordered for tomorrow to check out the artery or neck which is a little boo… went back at 8PM for a visit after shift change and he is in a lot of pain as they are weaning off the meds to hopefully keep him awake. We need less shallow breath to keep pneumonia out of the question, which means he needs to be more conscious. Thank you for the outpouring of prayers. We will make it known when visitors are good to come see him.
Update 1:43PM:
Reid is out of surgery. There was a large piece of bone that had nothing to attach to, but the doctor decided to leave it in. Rod also went in fine. We will hope that the bone will attach and grow quickly. Dr. hopes to be having him on his feet tomorrow to encourage growth. He was able to get the wound closed which is a huge plus. We will be back in neurotrauma ICU to keep an eye on the skull fracture.
Good morning Krueger family! We could use some prayers this morning!!
One of our technicians, Reid, was in a pretty serious motorcycle accident last night. He has surgery this morning for a compound fracture on his tibia and Fibia that broke through the skin at 8:20AM so we could use prayers that goes well! He has a spinal bleed C1 to C6 that is applying some pressure to his nerves in his neck that is causing some numbness in his left arm, some cracked ribs, ocular bone is broken on his left side.
It definitely could have been way worse as we know. God definitely has his hand and we are so thankful for the many people that have reached out. Reid is a ball of fire and energy, but we know the Lord will provide.
“Even though I walk through the darkest valley, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me.”
