Every successful excavation starts with a solid plan.

When construction takes place near existing structures or steep slopes, keeping the surrounding ground stable is just as important as the excavation itself. That's where a soil nail drilling configuration comes in.

By drilling and installing horizontal steel bars into the soil, crews create a soil nail wall system that reinforces the excavation and helps prevent the surrounding earth from shifting.

Behind every stable excavation is a combination of specialized equipment, smart engineering, and experienced crews working together to get the job done safely.

A new and upcoming facility in Little Rock, Arkansas needed equipment foundations built inside a building with active construction — with excavations dropping more than 6 feet below grade. The owner needed more than an installer. They needed a team that could help engineer the right solution while the design was still being worked.

FSGC partnered with Bass Commercial Concrete and worked directly with Myers Engineering to coordinate a custom approach as construction planning was already underway. By being at the table early, we were able to help shape a solution that worked for the site, the schedule, and the budget.

The result: 66 hollow-bar micropiles for the equipment foundations, paired with a designed sheet pile shoring system to safely support the excavation.

The trench doesn't care about your schedule. That's why we prepare before anyone steps in.

Spoil piles stay 2 feet from the edge. Ladders extend 3 feet above grade, spaced every 25 feet because a fast exit has to be planned, not improvised. Any trench at 4 feet gets a protective system, no debate. We don't wait for the requirement, we set our own bar.

If something feels off, we get out until it's addressed. No deadline changes that.

Keeping our crews safe all day, every day. That's the only standard that matters.

We work in the dirt, but we don't work in chaos.
A muddy job site can still be a safe, organized one. Clutter is what turns ordinary mud into a hazard. Good housekeeping is essential to accident prevention, on every job, every site.
