Dear primo pool customers,
Whether you’re on weekly or biweekly services here’s some tips in between services you can do to help with your pools clarity for optimal performance.
Warmer weather and especially so much rain recently in our area definitely means increased pool maintenance. Here are some key things to focus on:
Brushing: Regular brushing helps dislodge dirt and algae from the pool walls and floor, preventing them from settling and causing problems. Brushing daily during hot weather is ideal.
Chlorine Levels: Warmer water makes chlorine dissipate faster. Test your pool water frequently and adjust chlorine levels as needed to maintain a range of 2-4 ppm. Shocking your pool regularly (following package instructions) is also important during hot weather.
Other Chemical Levels: Along with chlorine, maintaining proper pH (ideally between 7.2 and 7.4) and alkalinity levels is crucial. Balanced chemicals ensure chlorine works effectively and prevents skin and eye irritation for swimmers.
Skimming: Skim the pool surface daily to remove leaves, insects, and other debris. This will help keep your water clean and reduce the workload on your filter.
Pump Operation: Consider running your pool pump for longer hours during hot weather, at least 8-12 hours a day. This ensures proper circulation and filtration to keep the water clean and sanitary.
Clean your cartridge filters or backwash your sand filters once or twice daily depending on the need.
