Late night service call Friday revealed the importance of torqued terminations. Loose terminations create heat, heat breaks down electrical components causing even looser connections. I recommend at least every couple of years having someone come out and re-torque all terminations. Call us, we can help by not only performing a detailed inspection but we have a temperature meter that can detect hot spots you can’t see otherwise. Then we will torque all terminations to specified levels and provide a report of our findings. We provide this service for commercial clients as well.

We’ve been seeing a lot of voltage fluctuations and replaced a few underground feeds recently. Our grid is stressed and the power isn’t always clean and balanced. Sensitive electronics do not tolerate voltage spikes and dirty power well and they aren’t cheap either. Let me know if you’re interested in adding surge suppression at your home or business. If you have a panel like this on your house or in your garage please do some research. It’s a Zinsco panel and it was prevalent in homes like the ones we have here in Forest North. If you have it on the outside of your house like I do (these photos are of my house) we can swap it out for a new Square D panel and breakers for $800 - $1,200.00 and complete it in a day. I’ll also throw in a generator interlock and 50A inlet for an additional $350.00. If it’s on the inside it’ll cost a little more. We can also install complete home surge protection devices. I live here in Forest North and I’d be happy to come perform an inspection and make recommendations at no charge. I have a couple of happy customers (neighbors) already and I’d love to build on that momentum!

While we were waiting on our TECL # from the state, we did a little work on our own home to pass the time. We got rid of the old Zinsco panel that was original to the house (1978) and replaced it with a new Square D panel. We also installed a 50A generator inlet and interlock device. When the power goes out again we will be comfortably watching TV in the AC eating popcorn and inviting as many less fortunate friends and family over for some comfort. It may not be as expensive as it seems to have backup power for your home. There are several options available and we can provide them all! For more information please contact me!
