We laid a complete double underlayment system, finishing with a layer of reflective Solarhide and wooden battens. The grid is perfectly mapped out, and tomorrow the new metal tiles start going up. Tearing off a commercial roof is already one of the most labor-intensive jobs out there. But adding full hazmat body suits and respirators in the middle of a Texas summer? Hell no.

For the asbestos phase of our Bay City church project, the specialized abatement crew is clocking in at 4 AM just to beat the 110-degree afternoon temps. By 10 AM, the roof surface is already reading 102 degrees. We do the hard work every day, but doing it in that gear is a whole different level of crazy. Massive respect to these crews keeping the site safe. What is the hottest job you have ever worked?

A sudden five-minute rainstorm near the coast just ruined the fresh flat roof coating on our Bay City church project. The weather can be unpredictable, but taking shortcuts is not how we operate. Applying coating over a wet surface is a rookie mistake that guarantees leaks. We immediately stopped working, let the roof dry out completely, and came back today to perfectly recoat the damaged sections. Now we are continuing the metal tear-off while we wait our mandatory 10 days for the specialized asbestos crew. Doing the job right is our only standard. Flat roof prep is where the real work happens. While our Bay City church project is paused waiting for the asbestos removal crew, we pivoted to the flat roof section. We spent serious time power washing and removing old silicone before mixing and applying the commercial Ecodur coating. If you skip the prep, the coating will just peel off in a few months.
