A homeowner handed me the keys to her house today while we tackle her exterior/interior repaint including her kitchen cabinetry over the next couple weeks. 🔑. That’s trust right there, and something I definitely don’t take lightly.
With the rain rolling in, it also gives us the flexibility to bounce between inside and outside and keep the project moving. Spokane weather won’t win this one.

Next Friday 8/21, we’re putting the paint brushes down.
The guys will be taking a paid volunteer day to get off the jobsite and be boots on the ground helping our community after the Complex Fires.
Maybe that means pressure washing fire retardant off someone’s home. Maybe it’s helping with cleanup, moving things, or simply providing a meal for a family who has had one hell of a week.
I don’t know exactly what the day will look like yet—and I think that’s okay. We just want to show up wherever an extra set of hands is needed.
If you or someone you know has been directly impacted and could use our crew next Friday, please reach out. There is no charge. No catch. Just neighbors helping neighbors.
If you know someone—or another local company—that wants to chime in and double up on what we can accomplish that day, I am all ears. More hands, more resources, more people we can help.

Today I dropped off 100 pounds of carrots and apples for the horses at the fairgrounds.
Seeing hundreds of tents out from those who lost their homes and so many volunteers working together is heartbreaking, but it’s also a reminder of how incredible this community is when people step up for one another.
I asked one of the coordinators what their biggest need is right now, and without hesitation they said non-perishable food. If you’re able to donate, that’s what they need most. If donating isn’t an option, they would absolutely appreciate your time. Volunteers are making a real difference for both families and the animals in their care.
Spokane, let’s keep showing up for one another. ❤️

Spokane, it’s okay that we’re not okay.
Over the last few days, I’ve struggled to find the right words. Projects we’ve recently completed have burned. Homes we had scheduled to work on no longer exist. Does this affect my business? Absolutely. Am I angry? Heartbroken? Yes.
But none of that compares to what these families are going through.
What has happened, has happened. We can’t change it. What we can change is how we show up for one another moving forward.
I’m tired of scrolling through before-and-after photos. I think we’ve all seen enough. Behind every one of those pictures is a family trying to figure out where they sleep tonight, what comes next, and how to rebuild a life that changed in a matter of hours.
A handful of our clients this year have lost their homes. Some have lost beloved pets. Projects that once felt important simply don’t anymore.
And to the people taking advantage of this tragedy by looting from those who have already lost everything—shame on you. There is no justification for stealing from people during one of the darkest moments of their lives. I believe every one of us will answer for the choices we make, especially how we treat others when they’re at their most vulnerable.
As contractors, it’s easy to think about schedules, estimates, and rebuilding. But right now, people come first. Instead of following up on projects, pick up the phone. Send the text. Knock on the door if you can. Ask someone how they’re doing. Be present. Sometimes the greatest thing we can offer isn’t a service—it’s simply reminding someone they don’t have to carry this alone.
If you’re able to help, help. Whether it’s your time, supplies, a meal, a place to stay, a donation, or simply a prayer, every act of kindness matters.
My heart is with every family who has lost so much, every firefighter and first responder risking everything, every volunteer showing up, and every neighbor doing what they can to help.
Spokane has always been resilient. We’ll rebuild homes, businesses, and neighborhoods. But right now, let’s rebuild each other first.
