WARNING! DON’T BECOME VICTIM TO A PAVING SCAM!
It’s that time of year again and the roving asphalt outfits are back in full force! These scam artists make a living traveling the country and offering to pave or “chip seal” driveways. They typically do very poor quality work and then move on to the next town.
What do they do?
Often times someone will knock on your door claiming to have “leftover” asphalt mix from another job. This is a sales tactic used to create urgency and force you to make a quick decision. Don’t fall for it. They will not be around in a couple months to fix their work if anything goes wrong.
What to look out for.
1. Make sure any company offering to do work is registered with Washington State Labor and Industries.
2. Don’t use a company for asphalt unless you can confirm they are a local, reputable company – word of mouth is important!
3. Look for out-of-state license plates – especially on equipment trailers.
4. If you are being pressured to make an immediate decision without a written proposal that is HUGE red flag.
Please share this post with your friends and if you or someone you know has had an experience like this, please drop it in the comments! Cheers!
