Ever wonder why a tree that looks perfectly fine suddenly tips over?

We found this tree in the woods that tipped over a while back from Root Plate Failure. Even though the trunk looks strong, the roots underneath were likely weakened by rot or rain. When the ground gets soaked and the wind picks up, the tree loses its "anchor" and tips right over.

Here’s what to look for to keep your home safe:

1. Cracked Soil: Dirt lifting or cracking around the base of the tree.

2. Mushrooms: Fungi growing right at the bottom of the trunk.

3. Leaning: A tree that is suddenly tilting more than it used to.
